Just ordered my avistar and wondered if there are any mods necessary to make the plane more airworthy, especially later on for a OS 46fx and higher performance capabilities. Also wondered if this model has a steerable nose wheel or is it better to convert to taildragger. Flipstart

flipstart- with os.46fx it is very fast unless you use a 12x4 prop. that requires larger wheels unless your field is very smooth. front wheel is the stearing. I added 3 oz. at tail to balance larger engine. flies great.

46FX turns the Avi* into a rocket! I've hovered mine, ugly but still a hover. Leave it a tri-gear as the fuse behind the wing saddle is weak. Do a search on converting it to a bolt on wing. Those rubber bands will only take so much. Great combination and will do things that people say can't be done with a trainer.
Enjoy!

I will agree that this plane will fly great with a OS46fx. Just remember that throttle management is important. If you go with a bigger propeller, I would recommend bigger wheels.
