I'm going to pull my servo cables through the wings soon. I will be using an extension on each servo cable. Is there a recommended reinforcement to prevent the extension from separating from the cable inside of the wing, or are they plugged together and left alone?

I would recommend putting the locking connectors on them, your local hobby shop probably has them, or you can order them from somwwhere such as Tower. Alot of the guys at my club, simply secure the plugs together by running a piece of dental floss between the wires and tieing the 2 connectors securely together.

I had some of those extension lockers come open when I had to take it out for a servo gear replacement. I wont say the name as it could have been a random chance and it was also a bought plane.
I normally take dental floss and loop it through the wires so that it is two wraps around the connectors, end to end. I will then tie a knot and apply CA to the knot. I would think that if you pull hard enough to break the floss you have broken the connectors as well.

get some heat shtink @ radio shack that will fit over the connectors, cut about 1&1/2" & slip it over one side of the connector, pulg your extension to the servo, slide the heat shrink over the connection & center it so it will fully cover the entire connection & shrink it. I have done this on several planes & have never had one come apart. In fact I was recently stripping a crashed plane & had to cut the heat shrink with a hobby knife & it was not an easy task as it gets pretty hard after it is shrunk.

Hmmmmm;
To heat shrink or not to heat shrink?? That is the question! Call it a guarantee.... It's simple, cheap and fool-proof. If i cant inspect the connection I heat shrink it.
