I want to build a biplane this winter. something fairly easy to flyand not too difficult to get set up.probably a .40 or .60 size plane with a 4-stroke saito.any comments on what you've flown/built?[8D]

I have a Great Planes Ultimate bipe and I love it. It is very easy to fly. I was a little worried about it at first but it is very stable and dosen't do anything funny. I love this plane and I am looking for another bigger ultimate right now. I have heard that the Dave Patrick ultimates are very good ARF planes. They have been backordered for a long time. If you can find one I would get it.

Keep an eye on EBay for a Lou Andrews Aeromaster. Had 3, sold one, gave one to the old man, the last still in the basement awaiting some updating. They fly GREAT and can really take some abuse. Any one flying in Cape Coral, Florida can talk to my pop about that! He's hit a bird taking out part of the top wing and dumped it on a landing only to pop the top wing saddles off. No, it's not a Pitts or Ultimate, but it's a nice plane that you don't see too many around anymore.

I've never seen a Goldberg Ultimate but I've built and flown a Hog Bipe. The Hog was a pleasure to build and a pleasure to fly. I power it with an OS 91 4 stroke, a cowl from Stan's and I covered it with 21st century fabric. Although it's not a speed demon it looks great slow flying. I'm a happy camper with mine.

I have a big bingo that I would like to turn into a bipe, I got two sig 231ex wings to use. Does anyone have a suggestion about the angle of the top wing, what should it be?

I had a flew a Phateon II Bipe for awhile. In fact, flew the heck out of it. It would do every aerobatic manuver in the book and then would settle in and land like a trainer. Not sure how many are around now. Wish I had mine back.
Good luck... one thing about the Phateon II, it was not an easy build, but worth it.
I have some photos, but no scanner to get them on line.

If aerobatics are not your major interest, go with the Hog. Its an easy build and with a cowl from Stan's it has a real classic look. It's my favorite plane in my fleet.

You are on the ARF page so I think you mean assemble rather than build. If this is the case try a Sportsman Aviation 60 size Waco Bipe . I have not flown mine yet but others have given it positive reviews. It was built very nicely and would have been a bit of work to make the compound curves between the cockpit and the rudder. I need another radio or at least a flight pak to get mine together. Theres a string about them currently running in the ARF section. There are some nice pix there.

Mr. Bridi has a few Breezee's left. This looks to be the old RCM Sporster Bipe. Only $70 plus shipping. His kits are very well made.

Can't tell if your wanting an arf or kit, If a kit is what your looking for I built a pica waco a few years back and it was a quick build and a very nice flyer. I think you can get the 1/6 kit for around 130.00 to 140.00

The Goldberg is now laser cut too. It is available as an ARF too for those with time restrictions. I once built the kit, and have owned two ARFs. The Ultimate is one heck of a plane. Fly it with a 91FX or better, but keep it light. Anything over a 25 ounce engine, you will want servos moved to the back to balance.
The Sig Hog Bipe sure is a classy looking plane. I've never flown one.

Another vote for the Goldberg Ultimate. It builds well and flies great! No bad tendencies. Flies good on a 91 and great on a 120. The Ultimates are the most flyer friendly of the bipes due to the longer tail moment. Short tail moments will give you fits on takeoff and landing. Choose wisely Grasshopper

Mine had a Webra 120, and it was a bruite.
I'd like to try one with a lighter engine. The Webra weighed 31 ounces and took tailweight to fly nice. If I did another I'd put the battery and servos in the tail.
