Default Sig 300XS Wind Dowel

Has anyone else had any problems with the wing dowels breaking on the Sig 300XS? When I took the wing off after flying the other day, the right dowel was broken off flush with the front of the wing. I had pulled a few negative G's. But nothing I would consider extreme.

you need to glue a brass tube or alum arrow shaft over the wood dowels...make sure it goes thru the leading edge and into the wing...solves the problem of breaking, doesn't "burn" the dowel from wood to wood vibration, and assembles easier (more slippery than wood to wood) and stays tighter longer....that's about it

I've been waiting for some extra mad money to get one of those
Extras. Isn't that spruce or cedar that they use for the dowels ?

This would be a good plane to use a all bolt on system...with a little work you could put to 1/4-20 nylon bolts in the front.

Thanks for the tips and thoughts. I'll definately be beefing it up a bit. I've been taking it easy with the plane so far. I really don't want to wipe it out due to something that is such an easy fix.
