I'm wondering if a Moki 2.10 would be enough fo the new TF P-51 arf.... From what I've gather it would haul the H-9 1.50 size P-51
Thanks

The Saito 180 hauls around the H-9 P-51 really well. The 2.10 will make the TF a rocket but... If the 2.10 is new you will need lots of run time on the ground before you fly. Personally I would find a highly reliable motor. A 4 stroke is awesome in a warbird! Or a small gas!

I have elected to put the Moki 2.10 in the TF G P-51 kit .
Has the power of a G-62 which is more than enough.
It fits in the cowl without cutting using a PICA muffler. (main reason for my choice)
Doesn't look like I can use the radial mount when using the PICA muffler ... just barely hits the mount!
I'm sure you will get varied opinions, because this is a personal choice.
Gas=good economy
4-Stroke = good sound
Glow = good power/weight and small size but poor fuel economy. (expensive glow)
I'm sure you are aware that the Moki can run on 0% nitro ... but that it idles better with 5%. Needs at least a gallon or two run thru it before use. (Long breakin)
Since this will NOT be a daily flyer for me ... the glow engine will be OK on fuel cost. My Saito 1.80 drinks about the same ... but 20% nitro.
Sometimes when you compare the price of engines, the glow is a lot cheaper thus giving you fuel money to play with. Although I say this, I seem to find ANOTHER item to purchase with this "saved" money.
Good hunting ! Have Fun !

My Moki 2.10 uses over 1/2 gallon for 3 10 minute flights. I am considering replacing it with a gasser just because of the fuel economy. Now it is in a Midwest Extra 300 that I like to fly so for now I'm living with it. I just bought a case of fuel so that and the lousy weather should hold me for awhile.

Moki 2.10
Thats about right for full throttle operation. Reported in engine reviews.
2 oz. per minute ... about the same as my Saito 1.80.
64 oz. = 32 min. run time ... give or take ... depends on how much lower throttle is used.
If you run a little rich ... then a little less fuel mileage.
Gas is definitely more economical.
Buy my fuel at Toledo so I can save a little. But all in all, the fuel is NOT my biggest expense for the year ... just adds to my yearly cost.
Have fun everyone ![8D]
bdtsr ....
By the way ... how did the Moki run. Ive heard (hope) it runs good!

I'm in the same boat with flying, not very often so fuel economy is not on the top of my list. I'm just in the middle of a transaction on a Moki 2.10 in the classified section and looking for a plane to put it in. I've been wanting a Mustang, H-9 or TF arf . I was concerned the large TF Mustang might be on the heavy side for the Moki but it seems like it should be plenty powerful. I think it might be overkill on the H-9 mustang.
Thanks again

Boy ... thats one thing that has me worried.
The kit was designed around a US 41 sooooooooooooo
Since I'm not at that stage yet, I just don't know.
My plan is to move as much forward as possible. Rec. battery (might as well be big), On board glow driver and battery. Gear door valves and servo ... and anything else I can think of.[:-]
I have a fully dressed pilot that weights almost a pound ( good grief) ![
]
But I'm still worried about nose weight.
The plane will fly OK a bit heavy ... its not an aerobatic model.
It was more important to me, NOT to cut out the whole cowling for looks sake. ( I may pay later)
Don't mind just "scale" flight ... just don't want to be bothered with trying to find a place for lots of weight. But the upper portion of the nose (Two halves -upper & lower - on the kit version) should provide a place if "when" needed.[>:]
Looking at the scale master plane weights, the Moki will fly it IF the weight is 25 lbs.+
I'm expecting 21 to 22 lbs without nose weight (best guess at this point when weighing all/most of the components plus add some).
I have added some though ... inner gear doors, operating dog house air exit, cockpit, and pilot .... but monocoat finished [:'(]
Have seen a few of the painted Mustangs fly with a US41 and G62. US 41 is OK, maybe a little marginal for most ... the G-62 is more than enough. A good 45 to 50 would probably be enough. My calculations say the power to weight ratio with both the G-62 and Moki is greater than the original at 22-23 lbs..
We shall see .... I'm hoping this coming spring. Wish me luck ... please[
