The DP Extra seems to be lighter but I don't know how well it will work with the Brison Engine. I have the PW Extra and I would recommend a 50cc engine.

We have a couple of members in my club with pw with 2.4s and 3.2s, and one with 3w75. All work pretty good. The 3w75 is like an F-15 on takeoff. The 2.4 flies real good, but won't hover. They will hover with the 3.2.

Guys
Get a copy of FLY RC, the latest issue. My review of the DP Edge is in it with peformance on 2 different powerplants (Moki 180 and ZDZ 40). I can tell you that they both hover it and fly it with much authority.
As for the ZDZ40 (which is a 2.4) It hovers just above 1/2. More than enough power. I could not see a need to put more power on this plane. Keep it Light! Brison Engines are strong. The 2.4 would be a good choice with good performance.
Look for the expanded review on RCU in 30 days or so!

I have a DP Edge with a Brison 2.4 that I am putting together. There is a thread on this plane with the Brison 2.4 and the originator of the thread went with that combo. He stated if flew very well hovers and will pull out of a hover with authority. Based upon his experience I went with the same combo. Do an advanced search using edge and brison as your words and you will find all the info you need. That said I have read that some guys prefer the Brison 3.2 in that plane. I am confident however the 2.4 will work fine for my needs, besides that they have a strong reputation and you cant beat the price.
I hope to have mine flying in a few weeks.

I have the DP Edge ready to start and saw your write-up in Fly RC. You seem to be familiar with both engines. Is there a difference in the smoothness of the ZDZ over the Brison in the 2.4s size? Did you go with the ZDZ due to better cowl fit? Is the length of engine shaft from the head to the propwasher longer on the ZDZ? Thanks for any help.

I found both engines were smooth once I got the cards adjusted. They are both strong performers. I did not choose the ZDZ because of the cowl. I used that engine, because the new design was light and boasted large power for the size. I did not regret this decision the ZDZ 40 is a great engine.
The ZDZ is a 1/4" longer. Considering either engine will have to be mounted on standoffs, this should be irrevelant. The ZDZ did require some additional work to clear the card in the firewall, but it was not a showstopper.

Erick, Thanks for the good info. I actually have the Brison and have not run it yet. I was concerned about the vibrations and power issue. I had heard that the ZDZ is a powerhouse and extremely smooth. But as long as the smoothness is the same (on this light airframe) I'll give the Brison a try. Mike
