Hello, I ordered a DP Ultimate in Yellow earlier this week, and I'm looking for pics of other peoples Yellow Ultimates. Are there any out there?
How about videos of DP Ultimates in the air? Esp with a 160FX?
Has anyone tried using 225MG's for aileron servos? Standards?
Thanks,

I also ordered a Dave Patrick Ultimate in Yellow a few weeks back.
Planes are scheduled to arrive on 12/21/03 and will ship out to the
customer after christmas. Mine will be powered by a Saito 180 that
is mounted inverted with the stock muffler, True Turn spinner and
am thinking about carbon fiber landing gear.
I'll try to get some picks on when it arrives![8D]
Until then keep on dreaming!!!!!!!!

Instruction tells you to put the elevator servos and rudder servo off centered, one on each side. But I find that the pull cables will rub a bulkhead unless servos are centered as much as possible. Besides, centered pull-pull setup will minimize differential in elevators. There is still a little. Unless you mount the elevator pull-pull servo horizontally, there will be some differential with the 2-piece elevator. So I did a little custom mod...
And of course, the upper one in the image (lower in plane's perspective) is rudder, the lower one in the image is elevator.

Very nice. Have you flown it yet?
A buddy at the field has one (Blue) that he flies with a 140DZ. It is a BRUTE! He highly recommends tossing the stock tail wheel, and getting the CF landing gear.

I haven't finished the Ultimate yet. Just mounted the engine today. I was going to put my Saito 180 on there, but resorted to my Enya 155 4-stroke. I hope I can get this plane at 11 lb. Right now each wing w/ servos weighs 2 lb, fuselage w/ engine weighs 6.5 lb less RX battery, receiver, fuel tank cowl, spinner, & prop. So I figure give 1/2 lb for these
Well, maybe I will end up at 11.5 lb.
The Enya 155 swings 17x6 @ 9200~9400 rpm, giving about 15~16 lb of thrust. So I will have a little less than 1.5 of thrust to weight ratio.

Mounted the throttle servo on the firewall.
Reinforced firewall w/ pinewook stocks. I did this because I know of someone who shaked the firewall loose w/ a YS 120 just during break-in.

Thanks for the update. Keep 'em coming!
Why did you decide to mount the throttle servo on the on the firewall? Was it going to come out tail heavy? Have you ever done it that way before? If so have you ever had reliability problems with the servo?

Some .40 profiles have the throttle servo right behind the engine, and they use micro servos. I think a standard BB servo should work fine for 155.

drill the sides of the fuse with an 1/8 drill about 1/2-3/4" deep about 3 spots on the each side and 2-3 holes on the top; run 1/2 pieces of 1/8 dowels (wood). you are drilling from the outside fuse into the firewall. then insert the wooden dowels pins inside those holes and wick them with 3-8 drops of thin CA.

I did all of those engines the Satio 180 1st, i thougth this is great excpet the cleaning that was required after those flights. This made me switch to the RCS 1.4; at 12 3/4 lbs the 1.4 just did not have what it took to do anything other than fly around like the plane was a Great Planes spacewalker. I could only get about 200-250 feet of verticle. So off came that set up and on with a OS-160; that is one powerful engine and very good gas mileage. I did this for quite sometime until i folded my wing on my Desert Aircraft 77WS funtana. I hated having the zdz 40 sitting around so i pulled the ultmate down and went to wrok putting that zdz in there with a can set up. I like that deal and the power is great its like flying it with the os 160 excpet with a 20 inch prop.

I like the way how you made a throttle servo mount right up closer to engine. I just could not see myself mounting a throttle servo above TE of the lower wing.
