I got an aluminum 2 3/4" and it fit's nicely between the cowl openings. That's the size they used in the instructions. Not sure if a 3 1/4" would stick up over the cowl, but John would know.

I think you might want to try a 2 3/4 first. That size looked good on mine.

Hmm? Let me check it out. I just built one and maybe I have my numbers wrong. I must got go storage later and see. Thank's for the correction guys.
