Extra 300 Cowling installation

I have been fitting the cowl to my used goldberg extra 300. I am using a Mag 1.08 with a pitts muffler. To fit should I cut or bend the two pipes for the muffler or should I just cut the bottom of the cowl.

Thanks, I have been building SPADS so I've got the Dremmel tool ready to go.
