what is the best 2nd plane for the $$$? has to be in the .40-50 size planes.

Personally, I like the Sig Four Star .40. If you can go to a .60 size, I like the Goldbert Tiger 60 or Tharpe Venture 60 ...

hi beginner- 1 my 2 nd plane was the kadet Sr. - 80 " with os 46-fx had lots of fun . another one i like is the gp you can do - 46 - keep the throws way down and it will fly like a trainner. you can expand at your own pace wrc-flyer

I agreee with MyNeed4Speed, the Sig 4* is perfect. I was fortunate enough that my LHS talked me into this one for my second. The ARF is only $149. You can probably get it cheaper with coupons and discounts through Tower Hobbies.

Four * 60 is good. One of the Big Stiks. Goldberg Tiger. Lots of good choices. Mine was a Four * 60. Easy to fly, but more capable than my trainer so I am learning.

You can"t go wrong with a U CAN DO 46 great flying plane. Very stable and relaxing to fly, a real fun airplane will do anything in the air and a 46 2 stroke to a 90 4 stroke and anything in between. Good second airplane. Good luck.

My 2nd Plane is the Seagull PT-19 ARF. The build was straight forward and I didnt come across any parts that seemed 'poor' It flys like its on rails with an Irvine .46.

Forgot to mention; a good price to 149.00. You can"t go wrong there.

you can have them seagull models. A couple buddies have them and are not happy with them. I guess you get what you pay for. I think it was just and after though for Horizon H to come up with a cheap model to fill in there voids.

My second plane was a Sig Sometin Extra, great second plane just keep the control throws conservative until you get used to it. This is a plane you won't get tired of flying in a month or so.

My second plane was an Ultra Stick 40 ($129.00) with an OS 46FX. Great flying plane and the quad flaps keep it entertaining. Another plane (my third) you might consider is Modeltech's Magic Extra ($119.00). Super smooth flyer and easier to land than a trainer. Lot's of fun in the air too.

True enough, you do get what you pay for. But a good inspection of all the flying surfaces prior to the build eliminates any 'unforseen' problems once the epoxy has dried. Some of the Seagull models may be below the standard of a 'real' model builder but not everyone has those skills. In my limited experience Seagull ship out a value for money, easy to finish kit, at a resonable price. Although I have only built 2 seagull models, both were IMHO and for my skill level very good.

if you want a low wing the Graupner Super Air is a great plane. You can get it from Hobby Lobby or Als Hobbies (+others)
