Hi Guys,
I have a problem...lol
I have been smitten by the EINDECKER 46 ARF from SUPER FLYING MODELS. I have read some really nice things baout it but have some questions:
1.)Would this make a nice trainer for a new RC pilot
2.)What is the covering made of ? Monocote, ultracote or the "despised" adhesive backed covering that most people seem to dislike.
3.) I'm thinking about a Thunder Tiger .61 Pro engine--how does this sound for this model-- I notice that the ehaust and muffler look like they are tilted to the underside..how is this accomplished
4.) how is the wing attached and what structurally needs to be done to make this plane resonalbly worry free--(if any)

I have this plane and have been flying it for over a year, Don't even think about putting a 61 size engine in it!!!! I have an mds 48 in mine and it flies straight up no problem!!! It is a very solid plane, would be great for a beginner as it is a high wing plane, it has large ailerons so it rolls very nice, floats forever on landing, has a tendency to be a bit bouncy with the wire landing gear which is very rugged, wheels are very large, great for grass fields!!! The engine mounts at a weird angle hence the muffler being under the plane , but it keeps most of the plane oil free. I rigged mine so i can take the pilot and machine gun off as it flies better without the drag from the pilot head, it interferes with the rudder airflow. I also did not use the flying wires, they are only for show so i decided to not use em. I used a williams brother machine gun, looks a lot better. make sure you fuel proof the fuel tank compartment as my fuel tank leaked, the replacement tank sent by hanger nine leaked!! I ended up using a different tank altogether. It is a very rugged plane, i have bounced mine in very hard a few times and no problems, lots of room for radio gear, I also installed a voltwatch on the outside near the on/off switch. Many people have commented on the plane and it is fun to fly, I would recommend it to anyone. If you get it good luck to ya.. Butch in Niagara Falls NY

Hey ...thanks so much for the good info--Yeah the fuel tank thing seems to be a common problem-- what about the covering material-- I was wondering because I hear its better to get a plane with monocote or another non-adhesive backed covering--incase you need to make repairs-- also was the plane difficult to build. One last questions--how do the wings mount....and can you do mild aerobatics<laugh> sorry for all the questions !

The covering is the sticky backed kind but it seems to hold up well, It does shrink with a heat gun if there are any wrinkles in it. I painted the wingtips and tail flourescent orange for visibility reasons. The plane was a very easy build, one of the easiest I have built. very sturdy, lots of room to work on, one thing with the split elevator control rods, its easier to put them thru the fuse before you put the tail on!!! the wing bolts on with two metal screws, very sturdy, i have bounced it on wingtips a few times with no damage, very sturdy wings and fuse. the plane has large control surfaces and on high rates is very areobatic, Any 45 size two stroke will power this plane fine, i think even a strong 40 would be ok plane is very stable on the ground, the wheels are well forward there is no tendency to nose over at all. If your new to flying you might want to learn to fly this plane without the extras like the flying wires and pilot etc. as they do affect the control responces. then when your good at flying it , put them on, i put mine on for local club fly in's i also put a scarf on the pilot, it looks great. good luck to ya, Butch in Niagara Falls NY

Great Info Butch--
I'm already a big fan of the plane and dont have it yet.
I stumbled across a deal on an Irvine .53-- Supposed to be same size and @weight as a 40 or .46-- Did you reinforce firewall or anything else on the plane ? Also I hear that this model has issues with leaky gas tank ?!?!? Did you fuelproof the firewall or interior of the fuse with anything ? I might be picking your brain through the build process ok or no?
thanks in advance,
Ps anymore pictures ?
