I would suggest the Great Planes Fokker Dr1. It's easy to construct and has great flight characteristics! Arizona Models also makes a model of this plane but it is a little more expensive and requires the purchase of additional items to scale it out. It too is a good flying plane.

From: gone,
GP has the Fokker Dr1 (see my avitar... see my review in the reviews section... see the addendums I posted too
)
Then there's a couple o Fokker D VII ARF's out there (never seen one can't say how good they are)
And there's a Fokker Eindeker ARF that is becomming popular as an alternate trainer. (flies like a trainer looks like a scale WWI... not too shabby from the reports on it.

I would vote for the GP Dr 1 . It flies great with a OS 70 , balances with no added weight in the nose. I have Two of them, bought a second for a spare. They were on sale. I had a mid air with a Jap Zero. It took out 16 inches of the top wing. It flew strange , but I was able to land it alright . It takes off in about 10 ft and It lands so slow. You must use rudder to turn with the alierons, or just mix about 30% of rudder to your alieron. I call it my flying step ladder. I have other DR 1 that are very hard to land and take off , but the GP Dr 1 is so easy on take off and landing.

3SeaBees/K&W makes a Fokker D.V, Eindecker and D.VII ARF's. They are beautifully detailed and covered in real fabric covering. the D.V and D.VII are both IMAA size while the Eindecker is just under. I have a few of their models including the D.VII and they are one of the highest quality ARF's i've seen.

i have the fokker eiii. from K&W (suppliers to 3seebees).
expensive?, yes.
worth it, heck yes.
they build them completely, then disassemble for shipping...
they are just about RTF.
you cant screw them up and they look fantastic.
they dont have a dr1 though.
they have the sopwith tripe..

It would work but would need some nose weight and a tad underpowered. I have one with a TT .91 and I still had to add 3/4 ounce of weight to the firewall. I could use a tad more power for emmilmans. It turns wicked tight turns. If I turn as hard as the plane I often do not pull out of the turn quickly enough and have to correct to the opposite direction. Easy to take off and land if not in a cross wind. But a kite in a crosswind.

Unfortunately, they quit making them. Mine is partially rekitted and hanging in the hangar. Was hoping to find another to replace it.

I have the global fokker dv-II with a magnum 52 four stroke. That combination is hard to beat!!! It flies like a trainer......and the best part it fits in my cars back seat without taking the wings off!!!

did you have a problem with the wing fitting in the saddle. I have one I am building now and it looks like I will need to do some major trimming on the saddle to make the wing fit properly

The wing fit fine on mine, what was screwed up in my kit were the instructions for installing the engine mount. Going by their measurements, there was no way in hell the mount was going to line up properly. Mine also has/had an OS .52FS engine.

I would recommend the GP DR1, Arizona's line or 3 SEABEES. The global kit was a little quirky and mine also had alignment issues with the bottom wing. It finally all worked out though!
