Hey folks,
I'm finally finishing up a Kyosho .40 size PT-19 with a Surpass .48, and was wondering if anyone knew of any weeknesses in the plane? I'm going to use it to get my thumbs back in shape after being out of the hobby for several years. I'm not going to be doing any 3D or anything high speed so I'm not too worried about overstressing the airframe. I'm just looking for hints like, the wing will fold while sitting on the ground, or the landing gear likes to abandon ship while in flight.
Thanks in advance,
John

JWN,
I have three of kyosho's warbirds excluding the PT-19 but sill I would venture to say you'll have no problems with your model.
Duke is the guy that posts from time to time on the Kyosho PT-19, do a search for his posts.
To my knowlegde there have been no discrepencies in terms of the instructions, balance point and control surface travel are as written.

Anderson,
Thank you for the reply. The plane is well built so I put faith in your findings with the model.
I did a search for "duke" but couldn't find anything and his user name comes back as invalid. I'm new to this site, but am sure I'll run across him at some point.
Thank you again,
John

Anderson, or anyone else,
Do you know of a site which shows the decal/markings placement for this plane? The decals didn't come with a placement chart and I have long since thrown out the kit box. Neither Kyosho.com or Tower sites show anything more than a very small picture of the model.
Thanks again,
John

Jwn,
go to tower hobby's web site and look at the Kyosho, Hangar9
or Dyanaflite Pt-19 pics.
I could fax you the scale drawings from my Hangar9 PT-19 instructions if Tower pics are not enough.
I think also you may find a couple PT-19's in the gallery on this site.

The pics of the PT-19 on the Tower site are too small and do not show the location of such items as the storage hatches, fuel filler, fuel gauge, no step, etc. The large stuff is easy to located, but not the small details which are included with the decal sheet. The Hanger9 listing on horizonhobby.com doesn't show the PT-19 :-(

JWN,
the following are the locations(scale) according to my instruction booklet from my Hangar9 PT-19:
Baggage compartment: top left of fuse aft of rear cockpit.
Fire extinguisher door: fuse left, forward of wing's leading edge.
Technical data legend: fuse left, above fire extinguisher door.
Fuel tank cap: left & right wings, over main spar, just out from black wing walk paint.
Fuel gauge: left wing, aft of left fuel cap.
Venturi: fuse left, just under forward wind screen.
Hand hold: wing tips and fuse bottom forward of tailwheel.
I'm taking a guess on the following item(not on my documentation). No step: wing root farings, Ailerons.

Thank you again Anderson.
I have two more decals I need the location of. Pilot/Co-pilot, or are these the technical details legends? I also have the tail numbers. These are easy since they obviously go on the vertical stab, but what about their larger counterparts? Top right and bottom left of the wing?

JWN,
the pilot sits in the rear cockpit and co pilot or trainee sits up front.
On my diagram four feild numbers are depicted, the larger ones go on left and right fuse 1/4 length from the tail. The smaller numbers are place on the cowl, left and right.
The legend is a paragragh stating the specs of the aircraft, where it belongs, passenger capacity etc.
The tail may display a serial number of some sort.
