Default kyosho gee bee arf question....is this normal

i have a kyosho gee bee arf. it is the 40 size. when i put the horizontal stab through the slot in the fuselage, there is about a one quarter of an inch gap between the front of the stab and the fuse. is this normal, or is the slot in the fuse too big.

Are the elevator halves joined together by a joiner wire or are they connected to a split "Y" pushrod?

thanks for the replys. i will assume i should position it all the way forward, because of the elevator joiner wire.
