I looking to buy an ARF and have narrowed it down to two. The Great Planes Giles G-202, and the Sig Sukhoi Su-31. I have a 1.5 c.i. glow engine that I think would work in the Giles, but also have a 35 and a 41 cc gasser that would go into the Sukhoi. I want a plane that will be a good all around flier, but also have the ability to do some mild 3D stuff when I want it to. Reading other threads, the Giles seems to land fast (higher wing loading), and the Sukhoi seems to need bigger than a 41 cc engine to 3D. Any advice would be appreciated.

I just ordered another Sig Sukhoi, as my first one crashed on the 8th flight, and it seems by what Sig told me, that I had the wrong servos. I was using JR 8231 the 88oz but not metal gears. My ailoron servos gears stripped and it made like a cracking noise and locked the ailorons in a steep bank turn. I could not save it. I have written Sig, mentioning that the ailoron is 27 inches long and the servos is connected to the ailoron at the 7 or 8 inches which leaves a very long area of nothing elso stopping the ailoron from fluttering. I have a FP 2.4 40cc in her and as you all know gasses shake. Why did they not put the ailoron box where it would connect at the middle of the ailoron which I am going to do when I get my kit. Why did I order another one, I must admit that the plane flew beautifully that is why. So I will do some mods and go to metal gears, I am going with the Hitec 107 oz metal.
I would like to know if others have had this problem, or if they are flying with the metal gears servos and have many flights and no problems with the existing set up.
Thanks
MGA

I flew the Sig Sukhoi with a Zenoah G-45 in it for 3 years. I sold it and have regretted it ever since. Just a great flying plane............
