I'm new to this forum so forgive me if someone else has already asked, I have not read the 18K articles. I recently purchased a Great Planes Big Stick from a guy at my flying club and I am in the process of stripping all of the old monocoat off. I noticed that this plane has plastic wingtips and one of them is pretty badly cracked. I want to replace it. Checked Great Planes web for parts but they just want to sell the whole wing core. Any ideas where I can get a couple of these?

I love the GP stick arfs, but the wingtips are junk along with the covering job (if you got the shelf paper version) I have owned several of these and whenever I get a new one, the first thing I do when I get it out of the box is re-cover it and throw away the plastic from the wing tips and stab tips. you can leave the tips square and cover them as they are or, if you really want the tipped look even though it will not affect the flight caracteristics, you can glue on a triangular piece of balsa and cover over it.

The wing tips on these Stik are just there for the looks - to make it befitting the "Ugly Stik" heritage. On my Stiks, I have even chopped off perfectly good built-up wingtips that were nicely monocote covered. If yours are the plastic glued on type, just rip them off and Monocote the end ribs. Your Stik will probably fly better and roll faster without them.
Unless of course, for some reason you really want to stay true to the authentic Stik looks.

Thanks for the heads up. I emailed Great Planes about this and they said that they don't sell the wingtips only the whole wing. I was gonna just take them off and fill with a chunk of balsa but thought I would ask.
