Default avistar repair

Hey guys,

its been a while since ive flown because i crashed my avistar.
the front of the nose is done and the left wing has a nice chunk missing.
I dont trust myself to repair it.
the engine seems to be fine but i dont know.i want to upgrade to something better anyways,
anyhow my question is can i find replacement fuselages and wing components anywhere cheaper than tower or so ? i dont need both wings just one..
thanks for the help
Felix

Felix, network with some of the clubs in your area. If they have a training program, chances are you could hook up with a member with some parts. You can look up clubs in your area through the AMA website. Might get lucky and do it all via E-mail. Good luck, Joe

i live in a pretty small city..so i dont think there would be a chance of that.
but i was just thinking of getting a full arf kit for 99 bucks that includes the fuse wings everything but engine an radio.
way cheaper than buying the fise for 75 and the wings for 70..u know ..lol

Felix, I too have been in that position and seemed like the best deal. At first I thought, what would I do with the extra parts and as time went by, I was glad that I had them. This is what got me started on modifying mine and three years later I still fly it on a regular basis. Great no hassle flying. I turned it into a tail dragger, with no dyhedral in the wing and the removeal of all non esential parts has brought the weight down to just under 4 1/2 lbs. I still run the .46 LA with a Zinger 11/4 prop which allows this plane to hover. It slowly pulls out of hover but there is no power to torque it. Take off on grass is under 15 feet. Its amazing how the mods now defy the set standards of a trainer designation. It was a very economical way to hone my skills and get into a more advanced model. Joe

Hi Felix,

I'm new to RC'ing.. And I also have an Avistar.. Oh, cumn thru(Joe)
is very helpful and a Great Guy!!

Anyway I'm not sure if your model is the select RTF or even if it makes
a difference.. But there is a Avistar wing set on ebay for the select model
Right now the price is at $6.44 with 4 days left.. You may know how the
price always jumps up at closing.. If this did work for you.. I would watch
the bidding and if you were going to get it, I would put your bid in just
before it closes.. Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=19164

** Hey I just tried the link and it did not work.. So you may need to search ebay
with the item # in the link above..

I know I was looking at replacement parts on Tower just because there was
another wing set and fuse. set on ebay ( the ARF model) which I believe
both went under $70.. So I looked at tower and could not believe the
cost for replacement parts!! It is far better getting the whole plane!

Anyway just thought I'd pass this along.. Good Luck!!
