Default EZ Super Chipmonk

I was at a rc flea market today and picked up this plane really cheap, because it was missing it's cowl. Before I try and make a balsa one does anyone have any Idea where I might get a replacement cowl?

Thanks

Chris

Chris what size is the plane, the small 30 size or the larger 60 size? If its the larger you can get a fiberglass cowl from Fiberglass Specialties.
http://www.fiberglassspecialtiesinc.com/ The big Chipmunk is listed as a 40 size but its really a 60 size plane. I have one of their cowls for my 65 inch Super Chipmunk which is the "Forty" size but mine is getting a new OS 91 Surpass II and my plane is New in the box with the original Supra folding retracts that are no longer made also new in the box. The plane is mint and my EZ pride and joy I cant wait to fly it. I had the 30 size with an OS 48 Surpass that I flew so much I wore the plane out and the 48 needed to be rebuilt I dont know how many gallons I flew through it but I flew it for 6 years[:-]
I hope that helps and good luck.

PS: is the plane new or used.

Off the subject i had a 30 size with a rossi 40 in it. It was a long time ago, 1987-88. The plane must have gotten well over 120mph before I lost control of it. Not the planes fault. It was just as fast as some of the ducted fans back then. Cool plane

I didn't realize they made it in different sizes. The one I have is the .40 - .45 2 cycle or .60 - .90 4 cycle. I bought it new for $50 with out the cowl. It appears to have all the other parts but is missing the instructions. All the parts are perfect!! This will be a nice looking plane. I got a Slimline Pitts muffler for $5 for a OS .46 FX that I have and will put it in this plane. I have a kit (4*40) that I am working on now and won't build the chipmonk till it is done. I was thinking that a fiberglass cowl might be too heavy.

Viper,

Thanks for the info!!! I found the cowl on their web site and I'll be ordering one when I get time. I should be able to finish it under $100. I unboxed mine last night to get a good look at it. Most of the parts were still sealed in the plastic bags. Boy! their are alot of extra parts for being "ready to fly". I didn't find a engine mount but the firewall is drilled for one. Do you know what engine mount that would work for this model? (I am missing the instructions)

I saw the servo mounting tray and it looks like it holds five servos. If the Ailerons are in the wing, what are all the servos for? (throttle, 2 for elevator, rudder)

I plan on trying an OS .46fx (mounted sideways) with a slimline pitts muffler.

Also what glue should be used to glue to the covering? It comes with some kind of glue but it might be too old to work. There are alot of plastic parts (like the finn mount) that need to be glued to it.

Thanks again !!

Chris
