I am in the process of cutting holes in the cowl for the engine exhaust which I haven't done before. How much clearance do you leave around the pipes (2) and do you cut one long hole or two holes. Any pictures would be appreciated.

One long one or you'll never get the cowl over the pipes.

I second H. Wayne S! Plus you'll have enough opening for cooling.
