Default Building First Trainer

Hi everyone, I am going to buy a kit to build a trainer. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what they built for their first trainer. Also include pics if you would like. Thanks, Whit

p.s. any tips on what I will need from types of glues to coverings would be appreciated.

hi i suppose your new to rc aircraft, so are you buying a kit or an arf, as far as kits go all i can speak for is the goldberg eagle 2. it was my first plane and i had no trouble putting it together since its geared towards the beginner. if u want an arf i belive they still make an eagle 2 arf, for a review just go to <www.modelairplanenews.com/reviews.asp> and click on Eagle 2 after scrolling down. the plane flew just as a trainer should and actually flew better after i crashed it probably doing something i wasnt supposed to do, since it has a flat bottom wing, if you progress quickly i would suggest on getting a semi-semmetrical winged trainer since those are more capable of aerobatics, a low wing in my oppinion is just as good as a high wing and since the wing is closer to the ground they are typically more stable than a highwing. as far as glues i used i believe jet ca and some sort of 30 min epoxy, i think most will be the same just ask around, for covering the craft i used monocote although some will argue that ultracote is better, pick one and use it i see no difference overall although techniques when applying may be diff. so try to stick with one or another in order to truly get a feel for the brand. the radio i used was the old JR 6 channel air/heli. this was just a few dollars more than a plain aircraft radio and when i get into helis i wont have to spend another couple hundred for the radio. and i would buy the largest reccomended engine in the eagle its a 45 so i got a thunder tiger 46 which in my opinion and many others ive spoken to is the among the best out there in that class of engines. just get stuff that you could transfer to your next plane because if you progress like i did itll be no time before your ready to move on.
