Okay, So I'm at the Toledo Show and I see this plane and I've looked at it on the Internet. I tell myself i'm not going to advance order anymore planes. Why, because I've done it before and always been disapointed.
This time however, I got to see and physically inspect the ARF, it looked good. I also like what the owner said about using factory full size drawings for true scale outline. Another thing was I like was the fact instead of putting junk hardware, Sky Shark has decided to not include any hardware. This more than fine with me, becuase I always use my prefered hardware and setups. The plane is covered in Ultracote and has the eagle decals applied and fuel proofed.
For $299.00 I'll gamble
Curious to see what the rest of you know and think!

You know Dick, it caught my eye, but I think that gets a "little old" after awhile. Especially, when I'm waliking around with my young children. So, you got one coming to review for RC Report?
As far as delivery date. It gets here when it gets here!

Well ... almost did.
I liked what I saw ... but for the same reasons you stated ... I didn't bite.
I would sure like to hear how it is when you receive it though.
Keep us posted.

What size is this plane? After looking at the pic, it is the splitting image of my GP Cristen Eagle. Down to every nut, bolt, cabane and stripes. Side by side the only difference would be the spinner.

Don't worry guys, we are not going to take your money and run!! In fact, we are not even going to charge anyone for a pre-order until we ship the plane. We just want to make sure that we have enough planes to fill the demand so we are asking anyone who is interested to put their name on the pre-order list. Don't let the low price fool you - it is a top quality plane. Because this is our first ARF, we needed to price it low in order to establish ourselves in the ARF marketplace and compete with everyone else. The price may go up in the future.
I have been working on this project since Dec 2001 and have been flying the final prototype for about 7 months. I finally have every detail worked out and have started production last month. I have been using a Saito 150 and standard BB servos (2 on ailerons with connection rods, 2 on the elevators and pull-pull rudder). It is a very nice flying plane and the outlines and color scheme are completely scale. We plan on having a video available on our website soon showing takeoffs and landings. I just uploaded a new detailed Christen Eagle area on our website - anyone who would like more information can find it there, or email us.

Oh, BTW, we are not giving up the kit end of the business, we have more kits on the way!

While your at it make a bigger version of the Tempest in ARF form.
I'll be first on the list for one. Nobody makes a nice size of it.. I'm tired of the Mustangs,Zeros, texans ect..

Frank

I just this minute got off the phone with that pretty little blonde and this is what she said. " there have been some production hold-ups but we expect to have them available for delivery by mid August." Not what I wanted to hear but I guess it is to be expected. Any time you order pre-production you can expect delays. I too pre-ordered one at Toledo after looking it over. I was impressed by the correctness of the color scheme and the fact that they told me it would be a fine home for a Brison 2.4 or similar gas engine, as well aS A BIG Saito or similar 4 stroke. Problem is the hobby shop keeps tempting me with a GP Eagle thats just sitting there calling my name. So far I have resisted but it's getting tougher every week. [:@]

I note that the price has jumped $50.00@. My latest issue of MA has a Skyshark ad with a price of $350.00@ vs. the web page price of $300.00@. [

The pre-order price will still be $299.00 - we will start taking pre-orders as soon as I get confirmation that the planes are one their way from the manufacturer (scheduled pre-order date is July 15 with delivery Aug 20).
We put an ad in Model Aviation thinking that we would have the planes ready to ship by now - unfortunately, we have had a few problems trying to get everything finished the way we wanted. Since it is our first ARF, It's been a constant battle trying to get the manufacturers in the far east to make everything according to our specifications.
On a good note, I do have 9 months worth of failure-free flights on our Christen Eagle proto-type!

Thank you for the update, Mike. I'm sure that there are problems in getting a new ARF on the market that most of us can only begin to imagine, especially an ARF that is up to Skyshark's high standards.
The news regarding price and the successful test flights is welcome indeed. I feel a special affinty with Skyshark; being from Wyoming and having family in Lake Havasu.
I can't wait for July. Best wishes for your continued success.

Hi Mike,
Couple things, 1st i wan't to confirm that i'm still on the reservation list for one, and 2nd, my opinion on the delay is this. Take as long as you need to make the Eagle PERFECT
, i for one am perfectly happy to wait as long as it takes to get a plane that is FULLY sorted, so hang in there bub, your doing a great thing with the Eagle
