I have a Magic on its way & I'm wondering what to put on it for power. I was going to use a TT 36 pro, & make the plane as light as possible. I have a Saito 72 I could use, has anyone used this motor on one before? Thanks for your advice.

You have the magic question and I believe I have the magic answer........Saito 100..........Have one on mine and never been happier...........Not bad considering it isn't a bi-plane but nothing is perfect.

Checking all magic posts the os 32 seems the most lightest yet powerful enough to hover well.
A many also use os 46 and like it. Saw a 46 fly yesterday still landed in about 18 inch roll! at most! and it did seem to fly lite but the builder said he had hell getting the cog back with the weight of the 46.
Some use the 36 and like it.
I want lightest and powerful, so its os 32 for me soon.

I just flew my magic yesterday after putting a new tt .36 pro on. Was a perfect match. Just breaking into two cycle and with a 9x6 prop it had unlimited vertical. I can't wait to see what it does when it is broken in and has a 10/4 or 11/3 on it. I had a OS 46 LA and was unhappy. Throttle response was terrible. The tt 36 was a major improvement. I hope this helps.

I think a 72 would be great on this plane, considering it weighs the same as a os fx 46. Im just flying a saito 56 on mine , and its got plenty thrust to hover. If this thing just had some rudder below the thrusts line it would be a great plane. I still like mine very much. There is no earthly need for .91s and 100s on a four pound plane. This plane has great elevator authority, perhaps the added thrust of the 72 would help throttle blip the rudder around and make up for its weakness in hover. All in all, a great deal for a c-note, that magic is. I just wish they had the elevator pull wires offset, so i could run a joiner wire down and add about half the rudders surface area to the underside of the plane...... have fun with it!!!

I would go for the OS32SX or the TT 36 Pro for sure. I had one about 6 months ago and regret selling it. I had a Webra 32 on it and it would pull out of a hover with authority and was LIGHT!
I think Cliff Griffin has his at 3.25 pounds with a T36 on his and he LOVES it. It really depends on your flying style, I like em light. The plane hovers great. My buddy has one with an OS 46FX on it and it hovers at 1/3 throttle.
