Default Tail wheel question

In a post it was said that they did'nt want to hook the tail wheel to the rudder and that they would use the Sullivan wheel. I've looked at them at Tower's page but how does the plane steer with it if it isn't hooked to the rudder? I've seen some that are hooked to the servo.

The Sullivan tail wheel brackets do attach to the rudder via a small spring wire. However, I usually do not attach mine. The rudder action in the prop blast is sufficient enough to steer the model. Actually, I find it to be maneuverable this way. more travel in the tail gear.

Try a free wheeling tail wheel on pavement and you will be doing lots of chasing. Some planes have a tail wheel bracket that has the wire going direct into the rudder. Any hard landings tend to break rudder hinges and bust off the bottom of the rudder. If you use a sulivan or klett or some thing of that nature that has springs conneted to the rudder then the shock is minized and your rudder and servo will last longer.

Edit for SP
