Default Engine for Seagull Spacewalker

Bought one this weekend, on basis that I have an LA .40 just sitting in a box doing nothing. Will this be enough engine for this plane? I see the box sez .40-.51 size 2C but instructions say flat out a .46 is what you need...... I'm not going to be doing any radical aerobatics with it (yet) this is my first taildragger and I just need to build up experience. I know how well the LA pulled the Avistar around, wouldn't do vertical but never had a problem flying out of stalls so I'm thinking it will be OK, especially if I keep weight down.
