Kill Swich from activated from gear channel. Just buy a 6, 7 or more RX for xtra channels that you need.

RORO's idea will definitely work. I was assuming RCISMYLIFE didn't want to spend money on updating his radio, like buying a new receiver, but you can get 8 channel new Futaba FM receivers for $50 or so on RCU or eBay.

Funny, in the early 70's I built my first radio, a Blue Max(I don't remember if that was the manufacturer or name of the radio). It didn't work when I was done and I had to send it back to the factory to be fixed. That was the last radio I built.

That is definitely true. I don'f find the initial outlay the worst part, it's the risk of losing that outlay that is the bad part.

If you're not doing it already, start by spending a bunch of hours on a good flight sim(I use G2). This will save you hours on the learning curve, plus a lot of money too.

Default microswitches and RF Interference

AJF --2 ; The product is Optoglo 2, that is the one that has the photoisolator...THAT is what makes this workable, I think.

The servo actuated microswitch - really a great idea, and works if you have a channel to rig up (like the throttle pushrod)...BUT...keep in mind that the wires going to and from the switch will be carrying the RF induced by the ignition system. I have seen this first hand, and twisting the wiring to the micro switch will help, but the RF on those wires will still radiate, particularly if they run near a servo, servo wire, power leads, or the RX...from UGLY first hand experience.

The optical isolation thing means that the "switch" that opens and closes the power lead to the ignition is physically, and electrically, isolated from the "servo side" of the controlling circuit.

Still gluing my firewall back in....did I tell you guys the T52 popped it ??

A **VERY** good point, Bill. Thanks for mentioning that....guys, (and anyone else reading this thread)...this type of electronics soldering involves static sensitive devices, VERY small pc lands and pads, tiny stranded wires that can't be improperly soldered or they will BREAK, and most of all...this is a PRIMARY safety device. As such, it's reliability must be near perfect. If you are NOT experienced at this type of component density, and the necessary soldering tools/skills - DON'T attempt it. In the kit, you will solder ALL of the components to the board, strip, prepare, and solder THREE servo/battery pigtails onto that board, then test, adjust and install it. IF YOU ARE NOT into electronics, go with the electronic switch from Electrodynamics

For those of you that either have or plan on getting the GP Pitts.

Please consider strengthening the firewall, a suggestion would be to pin the firewall with wood dowels an ounce of prevention is worth 16lbs of rekitted plane.

Default No CH Ignition?

Will the Electrodynamics kill switch work without electronic ignition? If so explain, I looked at web site posted and looks like you need the E ign for it to work??? Am I missing something. This will be used on a G62.

That T52 sure will pull a firewall--Paul and I put 5 bamboo sticks on each side (20 total) and then glassed it. I still wonder if it is enough. Got the 2nd and 3rd flights in yesterday. It's very strange because I was a lot more nervous this time. Of course the normal 25 person Sunday crowd didn't help. I will say it again (and if AnnMarie is reading this please tell the person responsible)--This is one fantastic bird for aerobatics. I know there were some issues and some have mentioned a torque problem--and it is true--you are on the rudder a lot and the vertical lines are not what an IMAC person wants--but this is not an IMAC plane. --Does the best tumbling moves of any plane I have had since my CG Jungman--You people with all of that electricial talk is way over my head-(building your own radios -- gimme a break will ya-you don't want me at a flying field with a radio I built)--I can however install a servo with a switch or a rod to the choke. Bill Pryor--I wonder how many people remember Mr. Bill on your avatar--too cool!--I suppose you know you are marking your age --of course I suppose you are never too young to watch TV!

how heavey did yaw pits come out. mine came out weighing 20 pounds. that is with a battery back up. a zdz 60. and a smoke system. it has 4 batteries. pluse i hade to move the firewall out 1/2 inc and reinforce the firewall. it still flys good at 20 pounds.

Mine is about 17 1/2 lbs --no smoke- 1400ma and 1300mh batteries with seven servos and wood prop-but I will tell you this--It does not fly like a 17 1/2 lb plane---VERY NIMBLE--Personally I am not "ounce crazy"-- I know people who will drill holes in wing ribs to save an ounce. That is OK if that is what you want. I don't mind adding a little for peace of mind and this plane has to be very heavy to show it I think. Of course that is just my humble opinion.

THANKS FOR YAWS REPLY.WITH A G62 DOSE IT HAVE GOOD VERTICAL? WHAT SIZE PROP ARE YOU RUNING? i have not ran my smoker yeat but i bet it liiks good. with the zdz60 i fly about 1/2 throttle. and it will anything i mean anything. to me it lands a little fast.
