What kind of wood is the piece that the wing bolts into normally? I have to replace mine in a rebuild and it is a real dark color wood. It is not balsa\bass\or ply.. I tried pine, but it just snaps in half when I try to put the metel wing nut into it. (Not the right term for the nut.. but having a brain fart)..

Perhaps mahogany? But that is an extremely heavy wood for a plane...
