Just opened the fed x box with my Texas Hurricane from Kange. This is my 2 Hurricane and again i cant believe the quality of this bird. They must use gloves when appling the covering , there is not one fingerprint on the Ultracoate and the rest of the bird looks great. Took a long time just to unpack the wrapping , Cant wait to get started, going with my trustee Brison 3.2, Also i have noticed on the Hurricanes after the covering is exposed to the air and out of the wrapping , the covering doesnt loosen up some arfs.

Can't beleive I was that stupid with that plane. At least I got many hours of enjoyable flying out of it.

You are going to have a lot of extra power to spare. Definatley beef up the firewall. There is a geometry issue with the aileron servo mounting you may want to correct as well. I'm flying mine with a Poulan 2.8, and it's more than enough. My covering was wrinkle free untill I had it out in the hot Texas sun for several hours yesterday. Good luck.

Yes on the firewall my old Hurricane i had it doubled with pinned as well. What do you mean talking about the Geometry of the Alirons?? My old Hurricane had the Brison in it and i mounted the ailerons stock as shown in the manual never had a issue.

The pushrod geometry should be at 90 degrees to the hinge line. Look at the way the GP. "Patty" is set up. There is an excellent explanation on the AMA website on the Extra 300 build along. BTW, also be sure to check for cold joints on the flying wires. I had a couple that looked good, but pulled apart in my hands. Get a GP "Patty Extra 300" canopy. It greatly improves the appearance, and looks closer to the real plane. Check out my pics in my gallery.

To zx32tt - I'm building my first Texas Hurricane ARF (78") now - saw your comment on the canopy - agreed, it's cheezy. But I looked online at the canopy you suggest and it does not look like it would fit. Can you point me to a link of the canopy you used? Did you have to trim it first? Thanks.

Love it when a thread gets pulled out of retirement. Don't have any advise on the canopy as I used the stock one. Gues I need to pull mine out and fly it some. And I bet it still flies great.

Ed - thanks for the quick reply. Am also undecided on engine - I have a YS 1.40 4S, an OS 1.6 2S, and an OS BGX-3500 (2.1ci). I'm leaning towards the 4S, as I've heard this YS (with gas compression) is more like a 1.8. On the other hand, that big BGX might be pretty cool, too.

Glad to hear it flies well. What engine \ prop are you running on yours?

I decided to take the plunge and go gas! I just received a new XYX 48cc and am looking at it now. It's a big engine - got good reviews here in RCU. Will provide status updates as I install it next week (going away this weekend).

A quick update on my Hurricane. Had a small problem and crashed on my maiden back last summer. Am just now getting it back in the field. Did a shake-out flight a few days ago and flew well, am working out some kinks now. I was disappointed with the roll-rate, but think it might have been my radio settings. I've spoken to one other Hurricane owner who was very happy with his roll rates. Hoping to flying in the deep snow tomorrow morning. So I'm working on that tonight, hopefully will be more travel out of the ailerons. I also added some mustard and red trim for added color.
