Default hinges and wingjoint on ultra stick 60

Howdy,
two questions.
1. is epoxy enough to join the two wing halfes together or should i glass them
in the middle section to reinforce?
2. i don't really want to go with ca hinges, however the slots for them are precut very thin. is there a chance
to sneak in pinned nylon hinges? if yes, which ones? which glue?
thanks, pat

you don't have to glass the wing . only if you need that warm fuzzy feeling . i have only broke one h9 ca hinge . next week look in crash forum for me breaking all at once you will have to widen the slots or use robart hing points . i think the ca's are fine . use radio south blue ca hinges if you don't like the h9 style . my old stick is going on 2 years of trying to blow it up type flying hinges are fine .

Hey Pat

Here is a picture of my.... er was mine, just sold it H9 120 US with a Fox 2.4 that is three years old with many flights on her.
The hinges are stock H9 CA hinges and the wing was just glued together with out any glass cloth.

Any other manufactures hinges like GP get throwed out and Radio South hinges used.

Best of luck with yours!

Doug,

Nice LW! I'm actually also ready to sell my US 120 with the low wing conversion... How much did you get for yours? I was thinking of selling it with Servos (6 HS605's and a futaba 3004) but no motor. Just wondering how much I could get?? (here some photos of it for those that are currious: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_88.../tm.htm#886734

I did not glass the wing and I used the supplied CA hinges and when I put my US 60 in nose first the wing joint held and no hinges broke. Good luck!

thanks everybody, looks like i shouldn't be concerned about it.
now, what are the advantages to convert it to a LW?
It does look much better like that.
