evfast ... thanks a lot, I take it that with the OS61 you will not be able to do any dramatic acrobatics. I am thinking of only your basic stuff ... hammer heads, rolls, big loops, Cuban 8s, inverted ... how did yours do?

Hi Tianci,
So you finaly bought the Chippy... good job.....
Of course your Cipmunk will fly very well with a 60, don't worry..... just remember to stay very light on landing, cause the landing gear is kinda thin for this plane.... you are going to love it....
Keep us posted, and send me a couple of these kits to Paris , would you ?

Pablo - I went to the LHS and the old man there 'forced' me to buy it, gave me a darn good deal. He told his assistant to just get the plane and did not let me say yes or no! The he says I can pay when I wanna, hahahaa ... he knows I always pay up fast. I got a TT61 sitting on my table, only done like 10 tanks. I'll use that first and see how she handles. Guess I want to fly this one gently and learn to execute nice maneuvers with precision. Also, I realised that the UC used by WM is the same sold under OK MODELS, same thing. They are much better now I was told, stiffer. Of course, I am a gentle guy!!! How many Chippies do you want? Hahahaa ...
Sport - I was informed by many that the Chippy flies great on a 90 sized 4C.

I flew mine first with GP .61 and was O.K.
Now using MDS .68 with better results. After break-in engine is quite well and pushs the model vertical. Prop 13x6 or 12x6 and FAI fuel (or maximum 10%N).

Thanks guy for the info. Appreciate it a lot.
Tailwheel - I think I will get a pitts muffler. Keeps the cowling looking nicer. As for the retracts I think I'll just ditch it, I like the CMPro Chippie, love the wheel pants. I mean the real Chippie does not have retracts. I'll see if its nicer with retracts.
Sport - every pattern, hmmmmm ... nice ... now I have to start building her ASAP.

I replaced the original retracts with Hobbico retracts. They fit the exact same with no modifications required. I bought a jtech muffler, but I recommend something better. As a matter of fact does any one have any ideas? I have a TT .60 in mine and it flies great. I like it better in the wind because it slows down like you would not believe.

I think I am going to have a swell time with the Chipmunk. I'll install the TT61 first and then see how she handles. The retracts look pretty solid to me

I finally sold my Phoenix Scanner off, that is now one plane less and one more can be built! I just dry fitted the Chipmunk, its a nice plane. Also got all the stickers on and the plane is pretty, very pretty looking. Hmmmm ... hope she flies great like what you all have been telling me.
Need to know something, for those of you who mounted a 60 2C, how did you mount your engine? Side winder or inverted? Thanks.

I monted the Yamada 91 upside down..... I beleive it will give the plane a better CG, and it won't be right heavy..... what do you guys think ?
Sorry to repeat this, but the Superchipmunk is the best plane iever flew......
Cheers

Pablo,
I can't comment on your setup, I never tried it. But I know with the OS 91FX mounted by the book, no aditional weight was needed to balance.
anyways keep us posted

evfast/pablo - thanks a lot. Pics? Its just the same as your! I think I'll go for a side mount with a pitts style muffler since this will give a cleaner look. Inverted will be for a 4C and I think that will look great. Shall try to get pics up. I dry fitted her then took her into my room and slowly fell aspeel watching the plane! Hahaaaaaa ...

Hi. This Chip isn't too far from you. She is based in Singapore.
Saito 91, weight is 3550 gm. She is Ok, but as for me she needs more power. Retracts are the pain on a grass. Fixed them permanently anyway.
Don't forget that you need more power here due to hot and humid weather.
