I have a hangar 9 cap 232, 73". I have not flown it yet, I bought it from someone who had put it together. The plane weighs 13lbs, has an Irvine 1.50, APC 16x8 (apc 17x8 on order). My question is, in someones opinion, how is this Irvine 1.50 going to pull the plane? Is it going to be a dog? I appreciate any information.

I had a friend who had a saito 180 on his and it really seems to be the perfect combination for this cap.I also know someone who put a g-23 on one and it was a dog.A cap requires a lot of power.I am not sure how much power your engine has,but if it is 3 hp it should fly fine.Any less and you will be asking for trouble. The cap I spoke about with the g23 would fall off to the side on takeoff because it was under powered and you had to let it climb at such a low rate.If you pulled the nose up like normal it would stall, and crash as his did on its first flite.I repaired it for him and he sold it and the guy who purchased it installed a180 saito.I own a hanger 9 special edition cap 232 with a zdz 120 cc twin.I do not like to be under powered.Good luck and I hope this info will be helpful.

One other thing I was going to say is I do not think you will be under powered, but to be on the safe side do not try to power the cap off the ground on takeoff.Make sure you have flying speed and do not climb at a high rate the first few flights until you find out how it is going to do.Again I think you will ok because I have extra 300 with a 71 inch ws and it has a webra speed 120 and flies great. But I think the 16/8 apc would be a better prop for your set up.Good luck.
