Default 4 star 40 arf verses kit (?)

I want to get a 4* 40 and put a .46 in it. Is it a difficult build in the kit form? Should I get the ARF version? TIA

I built my 4 star 60 within a week working about 3 hours a night, this plane was so easy to build that I actually enjoyed building the kit. SOme mods you can do is remove one bay per wing, this helps the plane roll and sanp quicker. The covering job will take you a little longer, it took me about 3 weeks on and off working about 3 hours a night. My color scheme was not easy so it took some time.

I agree with the above. If you have not yet built a plane from a kit, the Sig Four Star (either the .40 or the .60...I've done both) is a great first build project, especially if you have already done a couple of ARF's. As previously stated, if you want to do some simple, fun, mods to the design, it is much easier to do when you build from the kit than when you start with an already covered model. With that said, I built my (kit) 4*40 stock, and have had a blast with it, while in an effort to get improved roll response and areobatics (YES, they CAN be done with a 4*!!!), I built my 4*60 with the clipped (one bay off each tip) wing.

I have had both a Kit and ARF. after all is said and done I liked the Arf more. The reason is setting it up. THe Kit was my first and I just didn't enjoy it. I have since built other kits and have had much more success.

THe Fourstar ARF is a fun easy plane I recommend it. Only thing I would suggest is install an aftermarket tail wheel instead of the stock one.
