I have no time nor interest to build and am looking for a very good 120 size Extra or CAP type ARF airplane. I plan to power it with a Saito 180.
I am far from an expert and do not need the most aerobatic plane on the market. Nevertheless, I am a reasonable flyer and feel ready to handle such a plane.
What I want is a top quality ARF that will not fall apart after 20 flights. I have a friend who recently bought an Edge 540 from Hangar9. He says he had to spend so much time to properly reinforce and modify it that it took him as much time as if he had constructed a new plane from a kit.
What are the top quality 120 size planes that you can suggest?

The Hanger 9 Edge 540 is a great flying plane, yes it can use some minor modifications. I added some reinforcement to the firewall and the horizontal stab sadle on mine but these were very minor mods. If you are going to bolt on that Saito 180, these modifications will keep your Edge flying safer and longer.
I was flying an ultra stick before buying the Edge and had no problems making the transition to the more aerobatic aircraft. The edge has no bad habits that I have found and sloes down nicely for landing.

My vote is for the Kangke CAP232-120. Mine is powered with a OS1.6 2-stroke, but a Saito 180 would pull this 14# airplane around very well. No mods are required and the the workmanship is flawless. Kangke (Super Kraft) has done a beautiful job with this ARF. I picked mine up at Toledo for about $285, directly from Super Kraft.

Hands down - Yellow Aircraft International has some fantastic 120-size ARFs (CAP 232, Extra 300L, Giles, and the new Edge).
Wholy cow they're beautiful and fly better than they look....perfect match with your Saito 180.

Check out the Creek Hobbies new 1/4 scale planes. Look for my review of the Staudacher later on this week on the RCU magazine. AWESOME aircraft with a OS 160FX. Can not say enough good about it and you can not beat the price!

i had an rcs 140 in my world models extra . and it was light !!
it worked ok . but not what i was hoping for in the power dept,
i like lots of spare power, this motor just didnt do it for me ...
ran nice though !!! depends on the type of flyin you do and the weight of your plane ... ive since put my trusty ys 140 L in it and its a MONSTER AT A LITTLE OVER 10 LBS.
ive got the creek hobbies KATANA looks nice and light .
it will get a 140 L ALSO ..

I have an Edge 540T from Aeroworks they advertise as 90 size, but I believe a 120 4s would be ideal. 64" wingspan under 10#. I mounted the OS 108 and it came out at 9.5#. Very nice ARF ! Great flyer !
