Default Maidened my Kangke CAP232 120

This is one hell of a nice CAP232. I'm running a Moki 1.80 with a Bambula 18-8 prop. It flies like a dream. Lands so nice. Everyone at the field really liked it. I had a guy stand in front of the horizontal stab to hold it while I ran it up. He looked at me worried at full throttle. That Moki has tons of grunt. The perfect glow engine for this plane. Not too loud but has a nice bark to it with the Bisson Pitts.

That is a gorgeous airplane Joe. I have heard excellent reports on this bird and I feel it deserves more attention. Have you tried any high alpha stuff with it? I know its not a 3D machine but it looks pretty capable.

more pics!

congrats

I have not tried any high alpha stuff because I'm on my 2nd gallon of fuel on my Moki and want to keep the engine cool for break in. So I kept the plane moving until the 2nd gallon is used up. I'm quite sure it is 3D capable in the right hands but I can't wait to ring it out personally. I did a few reverse vertical snaps and it ended up doing a couple of knife edge spins and that was not even full elevator rates so I'm pretty psych'd. All I can say is that when people out there try one of these 1/4 scale aerobatic birds, it's hard to go back and fly the 40 sized stuff. It just flies so scale, man it's way too much fun.

More pic's? I have tons.

Pic-orama

The first one is my rudder pull pull system from SWB. Awesome system. The arm ended up way too long but I don't mind. Scott at SWB offered to let me return it but I just kept it (oh no, another .3 ounces! lol). He's a darn good guy to do business with. Not many people can top his good attitude.

Anyone interested in the most simple and lightest tail wheel, see the last pic. Sullivan makes great tail wheels. 5 minutes to install. I bought the foam tire from the LHS. It's a Dave Brown foam tire made for little electrics (Lite Flite?). These planes are all tail heavy with glow engines so the tail wheel is a perfect place to chop weight (besides lighter tail servos). Those Sullivan control horns are also much lighter than heavy duty plastic ones (I weighed them both). But I would not use them on the ail's as they can flex sideways under heavy side load (use the HD threaded rod ones that Dubro makes for 90 and bigger planes). The ones in my pic are always pushing or pulling straight so there is no worries here.

I have the Kangke CAP 120 with a YS 140. I don't know why you say it's not a 3D machine. It harriers very well. Hovers are not that difficult. Water falls are good. So I think it's a good overal choice for sport or 3D.

Congrats on the maiden!!!

You have made a great choice. I have one as well, it has well over 100 flights on it. Kankge's planes definitely make my list as excellent qualitiy. The covering job was very nice, but when I originally built the plane, I somehow forgot to check stab incendence and trueness. I got it off by a few degrees and so the plane never flew "true".. and it snapped out of anyting but a little elevator... It still flew great, but not the way I wanted... so after its 100th flight, I totally stripped it, lightened a few things, and recovered it to my scheme.. it attracted attention before... now it screams for attention!! Flies perfectly true now too after re-setting the stab...

As far as flying high alpha- lets put it this way... it never comes off full throttle when I fly.. high speed flybys, power dives, monster snaps, it will do it all and take it. I have a 3W-24 gasser on board, its set up on the high end of the cost scale, but worth every penny... not a 3D'er though, at least not with the engine and weight I am running at.. I built it for IMAC...

The following posts are a series of pics detailing my recovering job as well as some finished pics sans graphics - I have some cool ORACLE graphics on order for the wings and fuse...

As far as strenthening - I pinned and glassed the firewall, as well as tied the firewall to the next aft former with 10/32 rods. The firewall had prior shown signs of separation after 30 flights. This fix has been more than effective. I wouild not fly this plane without this mod.. the firewall is the weak link...

Anyone thinking of buying this plane - DONT HESITATE - it has no bad habits and is STRONG.

Wow that looks cool as heck!! Nice cover job.

I pinned my firewall using 1/8" dowel. That should hold it. Also I poured CA all over the joints.

Flyhard, I never said that. Re-read my post where I talked about it. I said I was quite sure that it could 3D in the right hands (and hopefully mine). But I have not done any 3D yet. Only 5 flights total so far. Need to break in the engine properly before hovering and such. I'll get back to you to let you know how it does all my other fav 3D stuff.

JoeAirPort,
Must be a miss understanding. I was responding to DiabloKid comment "I know its not a 3D machine but it looks pretty capable". Get some more time on it you will love it.

Well I believe it is not a true 3D machine in the sense that the CAP-X is for example. The CAP-X was designed especially with 3D in mind, but can do IMAC as well. The Kangke CAP232 120 is more of an IMAC plane that can do 3D as well. I'm quite sure that I will be able to 3D this thing very well. I just haven't had the chance yet. Like I said, I will get back to you all on this.

I can tell you one thing, the Kangke CAP232 120 is a joy to fly, the only way to know is to get one
