Hey gang,
My 1/4 scale Giles 202 has been flying well and I've logged quite a few hours on it now. I'm pretty good at the basics, but have been trying to work on 3D latley. I've saved up enough lunch money to buy a new plane and I'm thinking about the Laner Edge 540T. Main reason is because I want to reuse my OS 1.6FX. That motor has just been awsome and next summer I'll move up to a gas. But for now I want to run the 1.6 a little more.
Is the Edge a good choice? It doesn't look like it has an airfoil stab like the giles. Are there any other good reccomendations out there? Again, I would like to try and reuse my motor.

Hi the Lanier Edge does have an airfoiled tail. The os 160 would be a good choice for it plenty of power for just about anything. My Edge had some issues with landing gear and firewall but maybe they have corrected that by now. The Edge is a good flyer and lands like a trainer.

The Lanier 540 is light and would make a good choice.
If you want to build, Aeroworks makes a 25% 540 as well.

Search the forums for Lanier 540 edge. You'll find a LOT of info on this plane. Just like any other, some good, some bad. I like mine a LOT.

Dang caps lock key keeps getting stuck every time I type "LOT" ?

Hey BGI

Why don't you take a look at the new Creek Hobbies Edge 540 at www.creekhobbies.com. It sells for less than $300 and if it is anything like the Staudacher that I reviewed, I am sure you will be pleasantly pleased. These planes were designed for 3D.

Just my $.02

Hmmm... Because I don't have room for another one and Creek's plane is a one-piece wing? The weight looks good.

Thanks, though.

Hey!
I read allot about the Edge 540T. What I'm looking for is for other options for the 1.6FX. I will check out the one from creek hobbies. Any other suggestions? I've flown a .91 sized CAP-232, and GS-300 Staudacher. I'm currently flying the 1.6 size Giles-202 and wouldn't mind testing a different air frame.
does anyone make a Extra330L in the 73" wing size? That would be trick.

H9 edge 540 with a Jett muffler

that will have the power to hover it and more around sea level stock, not sure about mountains but the Jett muffler should take care of that

OK Guys,
I pulled the trigger with the Edge-540T from Lanier. I really want to try the straight LE and like the Plug in wings for transport. It has airfoil stabs so that is a plus and I like the colors. So what the heck, I'll give it a whirl.
I'm learning 3D now it probably won't last too long anywayLOL. Did my first full fleged torque roll yeasterday. Now it's time to start getting stupid!

Did you do your TR three mistakes high or did you have it on the deck so that you can see it!? Remember, if you let the tail touch the ground, you may get your AMA revoked!

Ahhh,
That one was so high I couldn't hardly see it. See the other thread I started. I did the next one in the "basement". No good, back to the drawing err... Building board...
