Default Got a GP patty today

Ok guys I just got my GP Patty Wagstaff, A DA50, and a smoke muffler all new in the box for $800.00. Now I need to decide on the servos, batteries, smoke pump and smoke & fuel tanks.
This is my first gasser!! BTW. The motor has standoffs already, should I mount it solid or should I isolate it somehow? This is not my first 1/4 scale bird so I should be in good shape once I get it in the air.
I was planning on going to a 33% but this deal fell into my lap and I had the cash on hand so......was it a good deal?

Miloh.

Nice plane, good deal. I fly mine with a Brison 3.2 hard mounted with aluminum stand offs. I believe your muffler warranty is void if you isolate\rubber mount the engine. She is a very tough plane, don't ask me how I know
Have fun!

Ya you got a deal I'd say. Mount the motor solid and you'll be fine. For servos I'd go with metal gears for sure like hitec 5945's unless your a jr or futaba guy. I havn't done a smoke system yet so I can't comment on that. For batteries there are so many choices, If it where me I'd put a 1100 4.8 nicad on ign and smoke. For your rx pack something like a 1800 or 2200 6 volt nicad will work fine. Just keep everything simple and you'll be good to go. Hopes this get you started.

What an awesome deal. I was looking into some different stuff to put in mine, and I saw a little smoke pump at cactus aviation for 99.99. That seams like a good deal for everything but the tank and smoke. Cap232CM thanks for kinda sticking up for me on that other forum post. That was the first time I had ever been on a forum and posted anything. I guess I should have read through the posts, and I will read through them all eventually, but damn, 90+ pages? I was looking into it and a Zenoah is one pound heavier than the DA-50, and thats with the ignition and muffler. Does a pound really matter? This is my first semi-large scale airplane if you hadn't guesed already.

Oh yeah...very good deal...wanta sell it for $850?

My wife is going to kill me when she finds out about the first Patty's cost...on second thought...better let you keep yours.

There are two rc universe threads with extensive postings on Patty setups....the past postings are chock full of every piece of info you might want to find. Be careful about asking questions before reading the past postings...some of the ''regulars" get a tad fiesty when asked a question they have answered 300 times already.

Mine just got her pitts muffler (I'm using a BME50) today and the cowling is cut out and I am waffling about installing the cowl ring I built for it or going with plain old cowl blocks...

Good luck with yours!

tom

P.S. soundq22...did you try searching the posts using the tip i posted? did it help?
