I had one with a 46LA and never had a problem with it. Nice light engine and had plenty of power. I was actually thinking of getting one again since my club will be down sizing our airplanes. It was a squirely till i added weigh to laterally balance it. Wing tips kept hitting the paved runway since it sits low to the ground on landing. Need taller gear.

Can you guys tell me what color this plane comes in? The advertisements look like pink and purple, but the RCU review looks red, white, and blue. Which is it??

Mine's red, white & blue.
Every time I see this thread (or the others, there are a couple) I get in the mood to take mine down from the garage hangar and charge it up. After 250+ flights I still enjoy it. I like to fly other things, so then sooner or later I hang it back up in the garage, but in the winter I like to put it, fully assembled, in the back of the SUV and carry it with me to work. After work, 7 miles to the field, don't get home until dark. Ah, RC. Ain't it great!
Best wishes,
Dave Olson

Depends what you want.
In my case, I wanted a minimum of stuff sticking out of the cowl. This plane was designed for a .52 fourstroke, and the only thing sticking out of the cowl on mine is the muffler and the wire for adjusting the needle. Mine's, what, 4 years old? And it keeps getting better & better. After 250+ flights, it will do adequate vertical for me, and even hover a bit. I don't do 3D, but this one will hang on the prop for several seconds. A 3D flyer could probably hover it.
I never wanted to go fast, and I don't think that's the object with an Ultimate. The .46 2stroke sounds like a lot of power to me, and the muffler sticking out would be bulky. But that's just my taste.
Good luck,
Dave Olson

I had an Ultimate-30 that flew with a Saito .40 then a .50 and finally with a .56. It was a blast on all three and was best with the .56. Never did kill the plane, just sold it and for all I know it's still giving an adrenaline rush to it's owner. A .46 2-stroke or a .56 4-stroke will give you all the performance you want and be lighter than the OS .52 (and you still have a throttle for those calmer moments).
I replaced the landing gear with a larger unit, but kept the wheel pants. It's a super plane!
