Default Rascal 40 motor mounts

Well, finally happened, and a lot sooner than I had thought. I've only got about 50 flights on mine, and I noticed the other day that the engine (Saito .56) seemed to be moving around a bit. Pulled it out tonight, and found both mounts broke. Glad I found it on the ground.... well I guess I'm going to have to find some steel stock and make some new ones..... good thing to keep an eye on!

Default RE: Rascal 40 motor mounts

I thought I'd revive this old thread rather than start a new one. My father in law was having trouble getting the Saito 56 in his Rascal to idle. He started looking into it and realized that the mounts had broken and the motor was basically be held in place by the throttle linkage and fuel lines. The mounts broke in front and behind the motor mount screws. I don't know what grade of aluminum SIG is using but it is brittle stuff.

We made a set of replacements out of 1/8x1/2" steel from the local hardware store and he is back in business.
