Hi, I looking for some assistence. I use to fly r/c over 8 years ago and I sold everything I had (big mistake). Now I am getting back into it and just purchased a Fun Air 40. The specs said it calls for a 40 - 46 size engine and a 4 channel radio(but with 5 servos).
I have received the airplane but after looking at it, it requires 1 servo for the throttle, one servo for the elevator, one servo for rudder and 2 servos for the ailerons. Do I use a Y adapter of some sort? I have enough servos but my radio in a 4 channel radio. Do I need a 5 or 6 channel radio to get this thing off the ground?
Also I have a fox .78 engine that I would like to put in it. Do you think its too big for this plane?
I have other engines 40 - 46 size also.
Any help would be great.
I'm looking forward to flying again and my son is interested also.

Yes, use the 'Y' harness.
I'm from the old school and would say use the 46. A couple of friends have the Magic (twin to the FunAir) and use the 46 to 52 size and it's more than enough.

Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't want to sound like a newbie, but I forgot almost all I learned before. I also got a new trainer 40 to start with. Until I master the trainer I'll try and stay away from the Fun Air.

Since you are getting back into this, you should realize this is not a normal plane. I have one with a MDS 40 that is more than enuff unless you are doing 3-d which you are probably not. A .46 will be overkill but more versatle and a .32 will fly it fine. This plane is very light and has very good glide habits(don't ask) and a good flyer. I put some blue monkote on the top wings so I can see it (51 years of abuse to the old eyes)better. Make sure the vert. stab is touching the fuse bottom when you glue it in. Also I knocked out the metal wing holdowns and put in 1/4-20 nylon bolts and put a sterrable tail wheel. It's quick on the sticks so I hope you have dual rates and expo. I too left the hobby for about 8 years and just started back in Jan. but I am a pack rat and saved every thing. I have my original sullivan starter I bought new in 1980 - still works fine, but it has not had much use as I learned how to tune my engines early. good luck Also - a World Models Super Stunt 40 is a great Plane Quantum sells them for 100 bucks. It and a Thunder Tiger 46 Pro is a great combo - I have used that combo to get back in the groove.
