Installing the Robart's will be easier than you think. I installed my first set on my H9 MA just a few weeks ago and it took probably a total of about 4 hours.

They were well worth the time, effort and if you can believe it the money also.

And is it posibble to put a 1.20 OS with pump into the Miss America. Do anybody have experience with an 1.20 OS?
Or is it better to put a 91 os in it

The Hanger-9 P-51 Miss America is one hell-of-a-plane. Powered it with an OS Max 75 two-stroke and cut the wings open and built out 14" long flaps. yes, the landing gear has been improved and now after about 40 or so flights, the gear is solid and no adjustments have been made.

I fly mine with the OS 120 its not a speed demon but the MA is a racer not a scale plane LOL. I am wanting more speed now for it. I just a pipe for the OS 120 but I am thinking of a saito 2.20 or a moki/mark 2.1 I made a new stab for it while putting it together to handle the high speeds and glassed the wing. its now in the 110-120 range and with the 2.1 i could get in the 150 area or hoping so. I have already test the plane with the extra weight and it just improved the landing area but slowed my 4-5 top end but the 2.1 will make that up plus some.

There are some nice electric retracts for this plane but are around 200 dollars but well worth it.

You do realize that they are talking about the Hanger 9, 65 inch Mustang, right? So you are proposing to put the Moki 2.1 which weighs almost 3 pounds with a muffler onto an 8 1/2 pound airplane?? That engine is capable of turning a 20X10 prop at 7500 rpm's which is roughly 24 - 25 pounds of thrust. You'll probably need all kinds of weight in the tail to balance it not to mention that the firewall will never be able to handle that kind of power and I doubt you'll get enough ground clearance for the prop anyway!! I hope you have reinforced the entire airframe as it was built around a .60 to .90 engine. Sounds like a dangerous proposition for the rest of your club members to me.

Hallo I have a question du to the Recommendet Control Throws in the Manual of the Miss America.

For Elevator is it 1 1/16 up.
Where is the point? Is it in the middl of the elevator or on the Exterior corner?

same at the rudder top or bottom?

thx. druckgott

yes i know its set up for smaller engines but i have been doing this for alittle while and if set up correctly and flown in a safe manner then no worries at all for the club or any of its members. for the extra weight needed in the tail thing should be a worry either because i will move the firewall back some to be able to use the larger engine.

Wife and kids bought me this model for fathers day...Wondering if the retracts have been improved at all? And also wondering about using a 20cc gasser in this model?

It depends on how old the kit is. If it was purchased from Horizon then it will have the upgraded retracts. You can tell if you have the original weak retracts if the wire is chrome plated. The newer stronger heat treated wire had a rough rusty look to it. Also, the upgraded retracts had an ajustable set screw in the retract body to dial out some of the slop in the retracts. If it turns out that you have the early version you can still order the upgraded retracts from Horizon for $27.

Good luck.

I've been out of the sport for 15 years or so, and just started flying again this year. I managed to find a MA in a local hobby shop and have most of the stuff I need to get her in the air. The only thing I'm lacking is the KeLeo exhaust stack, which is currently out of stock for the Saito 100. Since this bird has been out of production for a while, I was wondering if someone out there has a KeLeo exhaust for the MA to fit the Saito 100. I talked with Kelvin about making me one and he said he plans to make some more in a month or so. I hate to wait...anyone willing to part with an old one???

I just picked up one of these in a trade. How did some of you guys do with yours? I noticed Mike B. gave it a really good review and a good mod for the retracts, thanks Mike !!
