Default O.S. 50 SX Question

I need some advice from all you RC Experts here. I just aquired an O.S. 50SX that I will be using in a H9 Aresti 40. My question: what size prop would you recommend for sport/pattern flying? This is my first attempt at any type of pattern aircraft. My goal here is to have good straightline speed, yet not struggle in the vertical. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I got a 12x8 on my Aresti with a Saito 72. Just the right speed and I get enough torque. I think your 50SX will be fine with a 12x8.

no, a 12X8 is too big. The largest you want in an 11X6 or 11X7. Saito 72, is not the same as a 50SX. The 12in prop would put too much of a load on the engine and it won't allow the engine to rev up to proper RPM speeds. A .

The problem with the 12-8 is that it has too much pitch. The 50SX can turn 12 inch props like a 12-4, 12.25-3.75 or maybe 12-6 max, but that would be better for 3D.

I agree the 11 inch props would be better for sport or pattern.

We run a few of these .50 SX's. It's an awesome engine. Put a tuned pipe on it and it is insane in a .40 sized bird.

11x6 APC's work excellent on this engine.

I run an 11x6 apc on mine in an ESM extra.I've tryed a 11x7 and it looses out in the vertical..

You will just have to buy a few props and find out which one works best for you plane and motor combo..

I have got about 12 diferent props that range from a 10x6 to a 12 x7 i the quest to find the best prop for a certain combo.
