I'll assume you want to use a .46 2-stroke motor.......with that assumption, I'll name a few planes that perform well with one.....Hangar 9 Twist 3D, Modeltech Magic Extra. I have personal experience with both of these.....both good flying planes.....I like the twist better....they both have excellent performance with a good .46. There are many others that I don't have personal experience with, so I won't comment on them. The Funtana is a great plane, but I don't know how good performance would be with a 2-stroke .46....I have a Saito .72 in mine and it's a good combo.

Thanks Glowplug. Yes, I was referring to a 2 stroke 46. My instructor has a Magic. I don't like the looks of it too much. The Twist sounds good.

How about this Phoenix Funstar!
Was on sale on tower for 99.00,I have a magnum 46XL on it unlimited vertical.
All the control surfaces come hinged and pinned,Pilot and canopy are in,wing comes in one peice.
If you get this plane remember not to fly it very fast,I lost the first one do to flutter in a dive, that was my fault though.
These planes are not mean't to be flown like a pattern plane.

Funstar flies better than the Magic Extra ... the Magic is a different kettle of fish ... she is for totally pure 3D and not like the Magic Extra/OMP/Funstar which is like patternish 3D.

Well so far, out of what's been mentioned, I like the Funstar and the Twist. I don't think I could get behind a profile type plane. That Funstar looks really nice. Nice engine cowling. Anybody else out there flown one with success?

I flew one ... built it for a friend and I tried it, soon it will be coming back to me! He was a newbie who flew helis a bit, the plane was his trainer. He had no problems flying it and attempted a landing on his first flight, he almost landed it but had a very minor crash as the plane slows down pretty fast.
The plane flies nice and is very easy to assemble, only thing I did not like was the throttle link, easy to resolve but was disappointing as the plane would have been 'perfect'. If you buy it then use a cable linkage. She flies well on a 46 2C but will be great on a 70 sized 4C, so I was told.
The Funstar is floaty but has a pretty decent amount of drag and she will slow down but not stall. Flies like its almost on rails, reminds me a little of the H9 Funtana but not as good of course. Get the Funtana and you will not regret it. If you can stay clear of the Magic Extra, the trimming will peel off and the fuse is weak, does not like hard landings.

Yea, The Funstar is 50.00 (or so) cheaper but I wonder with the translucent color if I would be able to see it well enough. It looks like the color is the same on both sides of the wing.

You are best advised to have something for the bottom ... it will not disappear but can give you some orientation problems if you fly a little high. If you are flying pure 3D and prop hanging then there is no issue. I flew it about 600-800 feet out and orientation was not a real issue for me then.
