I recently aquired a Hanger 9 Super Stick in the 40 size. I must say this is the least fun to fly aircraft I have. I cannot get it to even perform fair with a Thunder Tiger 46 Pro and various props. It flies sluggishly and seems like it is underpowered. I have always looked at Sticks as craft that look fun to buzz around on a Sunday and practice some aerobatic moves. Not with this plane. I thought maybe some of you might be aware of particular problems with this plane, or be able to help me figure out what the problem is. If they all flew like this they sure wouldn't be popular. Thanks in advance.

Superstick has a relatively thick airfoil and high drag. If you want something that slices through the air, get an Avistar with a big spinner in front.
The cg stated in the manual was too far forward. Adjust it between 3.5 and 3.9 inch to suit your taste from leading edge of the wing and max out your controls throws.

Never base a buy or no buy decision on one or two posts. If I have seen anything I've seen this, here and in all forums. My problems may be solvable with the advice I'm looking for. Research for yourself. Talk to people you know and respect. Always remember mine is only one plane out of many sold. Maybe I'll try the cg move after I verify where it's at presently.
Thanks Sunny

Sunny, FWIW mine flew like a pig, too, with an OS 46 SF. It sort of "squatted" back, like it was tail heavy; but it wasn't.
And naturally, that discovery was made AFTER I had stripped that miserable shelf paper off and recovered with U-Cote.
Ah, well, made it easier to sell...

Huh..........Its been a few years since I had mine but I had a 60 size super stick with an OS 91 4stroke on it and it flew great...you're right ........ the covering sucks but the plane was cheap.....I paid $100 for it! I flew it for about a year before a radio hit planted the plane from 100 ft at full throttle......nice hole in the ground!

I also had a 60 sized one as my second plane. I only had an OS 70 four stroke on it, but I loved it. As a second plane, it did everything I wanted it to do. I've always wondered what it would be like with flaps and a stronger engine. I also like the rounded tail on it. I don't know if the Ultra Stick's angled tail improves it's aerodynamics; but I prefer the appearance of the rounded tail. Just my opinion.
