HI.......Just gpt a Tower Hobbies catalog in the mail today. They still are
listing them for $ 199. That is a good buy. Been flying one for 2 yrs.
Put a 120 4cycle in it and you have a winner.

Tower Talk has the Ryan for $199 on page 97 but don't forget the $20 early shopper discount! That brings the airplane down to $179!!!!!
I just ordered one and the PT19 at $179 too.

Howard,

If you were able to order the Ryan STA ( Red and White ) from Tower yesterday, the 4th, you are a lucky guy. I just called Tower a minute ago prompted by your email with reference to Tower Talk page number 79 and they told me, as I expected, that that Ryan STA is no longer available, discontinued and out of stock.

Hobby Barn in AZ. has some. I just bought one two weeks ago. They are the GP Ryan STA civilian model. Red & white. www.hobbybarn.com, I would call them.

A couple of weeks ago, I visited Barn Speed Hobbies (800/499/2651) in Lee, Mass. He has/had one buried in his stock. He must of had it for quite a while, the price was $350.

Ciao

Tower still has all the parts available seperately, if you want one bad enough to pay the extra $$$$$

I got the civilian version, red and white. I understand the Ryan landing gear problems are to blame for ending the production of the airplane. Robart makes a hydrolic landind gear for the Ryan for $129 or so.

The Ryan STA-M is still available. The only difference between the two planes is the covering. My guess the cost to cover the red and white one was too high to justify.

The Art Scholl Chipmunk is another with a difficult scheme. Maybe they will make a Harold Krier Chipmunk that is very similar to the STA covering with the addition of a sun burst on the wings.
