Default Hanger-9 Twist 3D

Really nice ARF for the money, just install your engine and radio, balance it and go fly, WOOPS, won't balance anywhere close to where they said. Just put a 14in. chevy hub cap on front for a spinner and it might balance. They call for a 46 eng. so i went to install my old faithful OS 46 sf on it,guess what, the rails are too far apart for most 46 size eng. Installed a Dave Brown mount, set the eng. 41/4 in. like they said and finished the plane. They say to balance it between 4 and five in. from the leading edge, 4in. to start with, about 25% of the cord, 5in. for 3D, well mine must be for 3Z, it balanced a little over 6in. After moveing the eng. 1 1/2in. foreward and installing a 1400 mah 5 cell 6v battery under the fuel tank, it balanced at the 4 1/2 in. mark. The moral to this story is that somebody goofed at Horizon when they had the servos mounted in the rear. They didn't allow for the firewall to be far enough foreward of the C.G. to take care of this. Don't get me wrong, i can't say enough about the service and help i have had from Horizon, just that somebody didn't do their homework close enough. Ed

Couldn't agree more I just finished my Twist with a YS 45, same problem. How did it fly with the 4 1/2 CG and the OS 46?

Thanks Mike

Talk about OVERKILL ! ! ! ! !................................................: D Mike, please use your throttle sparingly on your twist. About five years ago, a Buddy of mine put his YS 45 on a new Hanger 9 Ultrastick 40 and it broke the wing dowels flush with the front of the wing on the second flight. We both had a good laugh because the wing fluttered down for what seemed like five minutes......

Take care,
David
