I got the Ultra-RC Katana50 a few weeks ago, and finally got some time to start building. I like the build quality and construction of the model. (Side note: the deal of plane and "field buddy" a plane holder/carrier was a great value!!)
However......
To attach the wings, there are both a set of screws to hold the wing to the fusalage, but also a spring between two eye bolts. My quesiton is how to attach the spring which is located forward of the fiberglass tube and hard to reach? Has anybody encountered this issue and besides using small hands to reach inside the fuselage, how to attach the spring?
Greg.

I think I did something along the lines of attaching one wing, then using long nose
pliers, inserted the spring through the opposite hole in the fuselage, hooked it over the
hook in the wing, still holding the other end with the pliers, pulled it out of the fuse then
trapped it with a screw driver or similar. The spring is not that strong so it is not too difficult.
I then got the other wing, pulled the spring out a bit, hooked it over the hook in the wing, and
put the wing onto the fuse, did up the bolts, and so on. It's probably easiest to do before fitting
the tank and engine so you can look through the hole in the firewall and see what you're doing.
If you struggle to hook the spring on after fitting one wing, I suppose you could also attach the
spring to one wing, attach a piece of string to the other end of the spring, thread the string through the fuse,
pull the spring through the fuse as you put the wing on, then hook the other end onto the other wing,
then fit the wing etc. Again, the spring is not very strong so will pull out quite far.
Good luck!

I took a scrap piece of 4-40 rod and made a curved hook at one end. I then attached the spring to one wing. Take your 4-40 rod and put through the hole in fuse from opposite side and hook the free end of the spring. As you pull wing tight against fuse, also pull the 4-40 rod to pull spring through other side. Then attach the other wing and your all set. Works like a charm.

Instead of using the spring, use a long zip tie and pull snug for each flying session. When you want to take it apart, just cut the zip tie.

I plan on using my OS 46AX with a 12.25x3.75 prop. I'm not looking for full 3D(Hover), but a fun plane that easily fits in my car. I'm starting to think about pattern and IMAC compititions. I think lots of "stick" time is key to success. I should be able to fly this one all the time <grin>.

That's why I picked this little plane up too- to have something that fits easily in my car without taking it apart. I am excited to fly it because I am sure it will do some nice 3D with the saito 82 in it. My extreme flight YAK with YS110FZ is a blast to fly, but it takes forever to get that stupid canopy and wings off. Sometimes it nice to have a little plane.

Yup, this is what I did in the review!

The mounts for my wing bolts were already in , same with the bolts for the landing gear .... I am just having trouble with everything else ...... hahah....
and the kit was missing odds and ends.... which is a pain ...
good luck with all your planes..
