Great idea on the longer axles. I'll be sure to do that since I fly almost exclusively at a grass field.

Looks like I'll have to open the bottom of the cowl for my motor head and glow plug. I'll either put a glow driver or remote glow on this plane since I'm mounting the .61FX inverted. Anyone have any recommendations on brand / type?

I also hooked up three lines on the tank. 2 w/ clunks and the 3rd is a vent line. One clunk (a hair shorter with a piece of brass tubing in the middle) will run to the carb. The second clunk line will go to a fuel dot and be used for filling and emptying the tank. The vent line will just vent. don't need a "T" to dump the glow since the inverted muffler will take care of that with out any issues.

How much flight time has anyone gotten on that small fuel tank? 250CC on a .61 should give me about how much flight time?

Thanks again guys.

Sean,

Do you have pics of the right side and bottom of the cowl? And also of the engine & muffler WITHOUT the cowl?
Would like to see how much of the cowl you had to cut off to fit the OS .70. Thanks very much.

I put a 61fx into this plane and if you mount the engine sideways with a pitts exhaust you can conceal the whole engine. I only have small holes for exhaust, glow plug and needle valve. It fits perfectly.

Will it fly for long with out the overheating problem? I too have the same set up but all still in the box. Will start on it shortly and the cowl looks way to nice to be cutting big holes. Me thinks we will have to or its a overheating we will go.

What kind of muffler extention is that on the 70?
I have tried all kinds of hose and all have fell off my 91 4 stroke.[]

Have run 3 tanks and have not had any overheating... I have run this setup on many other airplanes and never had any problems.

Extension? Do you mean the elbow right after the engine or the exhaust deflector? The elbow right after the enigne came with my .70 and it threads into the engine head and into the muffler. The deflector I have is from GS Racing and I got it out of the RC car section of my LHS. My muffler has a lip on the tip of it so the zip ties dont slip off after I tighten them.
One suggestion I have heard for helping hold on exhaust deflectors is to add some JB weld around the tip of your muffler. Make enough so it makes a lip all the way around the tip of your muffler. That will keep the zip ties from slipping over the end of the tip and you from losing your deflector.

Sean, Thanks for the pics. Digital cameras are a wonderful invention. What will we do without them?

Scaleman, let us know what the final weight is with the 61fx. And also how she flys with a 2 stroker. Thanks.

I've got my .61fx mounted inverted, almost all control linkages installed (having to redo the throttle since the stock setup is made for a side mount), landing gear on, pilot installed, and the cowl almost ready to go in.

Since I mounted the motor inverted, I'm planning on using a remote glow. Anyone know of a good place to put this and keep it out of the way?

Thanks guys.

I mounted mine on the left side behind the cowling... they say the wind here is going to die tommrow... I feel a extreme case of flyitis coming on

Any suggestions for running the throttle? Where I'm mounting it inverted the stock position doesn't really work that well for the servo. The thottle needs to be on the lower right corner of the firebox (facing the plane) but the stock location is the right side. Where the grey guide tubes are already run I'm pretty well tied in to that one area. I'm trying a flex cable but not to happy with that right now. Should finish up today. Only have about 8 hours in it so far. Expect to finish with-in two more.

What engine mine is inverted also? On my Saito 100 I turned the carb around and it worked out good.

It's a .61 FX. Can I turn the carb on it around?

Now, that I've said that, I don't think I can. I'll see what I can come up with.

Hey John you don't look so well, I think you DO have that 24hr. flyitis coming on. You had better stay home tomorrow. -- I am really interested in finding out how she does with the 100 on it. What prop are you going to try it with?

Would be interested in the weights that guys are coming out with on the finished plane....maybe the weight GP put on the specs was a typo? As you finish your plane, please post the finished weight...especially with the four strokes...Thanks guys

As I posted earlier, my finished- ready to fly weight is 6lbs. 10oz. with a saito 82 on it. I have not had it in the air yet due to bad weather but I sure am looking forward to it.

So do you think a OS 91FX is too much for this plane? I was thinking about putting the 91 in this plane. My other thought was too spend the cash for the Saito 82. What do you guys think.

Thanks.

Let us know how it flies with the 82 up front.
