Best E conversion Yet!
I have just flown my Electric conversion of the Sig Four * ARF. It is an excellent kit and flies great. The word at the field is it is my best conversion yet.
I had three flights today. These were the first with this model. I had two 8 minute flights with aggressive aerobatics. Practically no trim was necessary and it flew fantastic. Takeoffs, landings and maneuvers were very good with very little trim necessary.
The power was provided by a MaxN32-13Y/4:1 24 3000 NiMh cells. I am using 2 - 12 packs of MEC SPT (solder-less power tubes). I have been using the Model Electronic Power Tubes with the Panosonic Nimh in all of my electric models for the last two years and they have served very will with long flight times. ( www.modelelectronicscorp.com ).
The power system on all my models is custom configured by MaxCim motors ( www.maxcim.com ). Their system is truly plug and play. Give Tom a call and tell him what you are powering and he will provide you with a ready to go system that WILL work. He provides motor, gearbox, controller and wiring harness and it is all American made. He provides excellent support as well. I fly my electric models several times a week. I have switched to electric almost exclusively and primarly do sport flying. I haven't had a motor fail yet. It is so easy and clean. What can I say!
My most successful conversions have been the Sig ARF kits. I am presently flying a Kadet LT40, Senior Kadet, Rascal 40 and now the Four * 60. They have all been outstanding kits and fly very well. I will be flying all of them at the NEAT fair next month.
I will post a couple of pictures of the Four *. I had none of the minor problems with the kit as discussed on some of the other threads. The plane went together and flew without the slightest problem. These kits have been a pleasure to build and fly.
