Based on the review at RC Universe, and the fact that Chief A/C had them on sale for 187.00, I ordered one today. Plan on using an OS61FX, which might be a little light on power, but I am not a Pattern Flyer. I would love to hear from anyone who has this plane and has some experience with it. Thanks a bunch .

The test flight was a disaster-- left center of elevator broke off without any indication of flutter. Post mortem indicated that the leading edge of the elevator was made of balsa too soft for even a park flyer. Total demolish. Chief A/C denied any responsibility but Hobby People, (The distributor) replaced the kit in five days door to door. Great People. The new kit seems to be much stronger, and am looking forward to flying it this weekend.
Prior to the crash, the plane was awesome in flight. Just be careful to check that the elevator leading edge is not too soft, and if is re-enforce it with a hardwood spar. Suggest you buy it from them as they REALLY stand behind their products.

Hey WillyT
Thanks for the info, and yes Hobby People stand behind their products, I purchased a Magnum 120 4 stroke from them, and 1 year later I needed a small for it, they sent the part for free. Ron

Couldnt wait. the more I looked at the completed plane, the more I needed tofly it. Blanced perfectly at 4 3/4. Used NiMh 1600 MA battery which is a little heavy. Put it in the compartment under the fuel tank. Be very careful of the elevator throws-- too much and it will snap in a second.
Flew it twice-- NO trim needed, flew on rails. Did not do vertical because the engine isnt broken in, but the OS 60 pulls it fast. All in all it is a great flyer-- did a knife edge the length of the field. After all the trouble with the first one, I am thrilled. Hope yours turn out as well.

Hello All.
My experience with the Giles is that they have serious quality control issues. On the second circuit of my TT Pro .61 powered Giles maiden flight the right stabilizer and elevator sheared off and floated gently to the ground. The rest of the Giles buried itself into mother earth.
The crowd of club members who were admiring my new plane were just as bowled over as I was. Inspecting the stab and elevator showed it must have been damaged prior to covering as there is no mark on the covering at all. I tried a "snap" test on the other side but stopped at actually standing on it, which certainly leaves a good mark on the covering even though it did not fail.
I hope that the Australian Distributer is just as happy to replace mine although I'd certainly vigorously check the whole rear assembly. I've got a feeling I should'nt hold my breath. Sorry for being a downer however that just my experience.
Adrian.

I just read the RCM review of the Model Tech G-202. It said with a Saito100, heavy battery under the tank and 2 servos in the back(elevator) the plane needed 12 oz of lead in the nose to balance.
Anybody else have this experience?
I'm in the process of assembling one now and intend to use a Webra 120.
Do I need to mount every thing on the firewall and do a weight reduction in the back (if possible)?

I use a os.61 2 stroke with a bison pitts muffler, 1600 ma battery under the fuel tank, and the balance came out perfect, and plane flies like a dream. Landings are a bit tough-- need to keep speed up, but other than that, it is a pure delight.

Hello All,
I thought I'd update you all as to the reply from the Distributer.
Success, I've got a brand new plane although I had to pay 100 dollars Australian (the kit sells here for $360) to get it. They stopped short of actually saying that it was my fault, still they were generous to offer another kit at less then their cost price.
Good enough for me
I'm looking forward to getting plenty of stick time with this one!
