Here is the set up. You’re a builder you don’t do ARFS no way.
You are in a STRANGE city on the WRONG side of town when you spy a LHS so you decide to have a look and see what they have. You go in its huge, they have a ton of stuff, they have several tons of stuff, they have tons and tons of ARFS!!!! Nothing but ARFS… So you are about to leave when you run into the proprietor …. Name tag says BUBBA and he looks the part. Bubba of course wants to be helpful, you just want out. It goes downhill from there you are introduced to Bubba’s helper… Egor!! Egor has a baseball bat and thinks you would like to have an ARF and that you would like to pay cash.. You have 500 bucks in your wallet. So……… your out and you have your head, and your ARF and a good tale to tell when you show up at the field with it. So my question is which one did you buy?
Names and place have been changed to protect the builders.... bert

berta-
nice post, very funny.
I am new to the sport, and am looking forward to becoming a builder instead of an ARF'er, but if Egor has a bat, well, he might no have to twist my arm too hard to talk me into purchasing Hangar 9's new P-40 Warhawk http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByC...ProdID=HAN2850
Nice looking ARF!
Hey, is Egor an instructor, because I'd crash this plane in a New York minute!!!!

Nice war bird I'm also new to this hobby too however I'm not ready to fly this kind yet but working on it. I started last year late in summer with a Nextstar Select RTF and a Superstar 40 Select ARF. for trainers, and now just about complete a RV 4 40 GP Sport Kit. My next kit will be a war bird. around here there are hardly and competition for LHS and just about anything hobby is almost double in price, would like to see a Box type hobby store to bring those prices down some.
Although the store is great for support and ordering parts when needed but expensive. Some club members orders from out of province or USA .What plane do you fly now? and do you belong to a flying club? Did you buy this plane?

I went to one of the highest volume shops in the southeast US expecting to buy a 4star 60 kit. A very popular one and likely to be in a big hobby shop? Wrong. There wasn't a kit in the whole place. They had both 4 star arfs and all the other arfs too. I left with a ARF instead of the kit.
I have it all figured out what I'm gonna change. 1st it's going to have a four stroke....
Enjoy,
Jim

roltech,
No, I didn't buy this plane. I am not a good enough r/c pilot to fly warbirds yet. I just would choose that particular plane (in berta's hypothetical situation) because it is such a nice looking ARF. My next few planes will be kits. I enjoy building and tinkering as much as I enjoy flying.
BTW, yes, I do belong to a club; just joined in January. I am currently flying a Goldberg Tiger II. I only stepped up from my trainer a few weeks ago.

Well, if it was me in the store and I had the $500 in my pocket.
I'd whip my Glock out, pop Egor two in the chest and ask Bubba if has more helpers.
Then I'd go to the counter and get a Vectorflight Edge and a WH Extra Special. I'm sure Bubba would let me slide on the small difference for the trouble of me having to clean my Glock.
But, HEY; that's me.... that's how I roll.

Which side of town is the "wrong" side? Have you ever seen a LHS in the "wrong side" of town? ALL cities are strange - IMO.
Sorry! Just in one of those moods again, must be the fumes from the plane that I'm supposed to be working on right now. [&o]
