I think all anyone knows at this point is what was said in RCReport, and whats a DP's website. Very attractive airplane for the price, I will say that!
Come to think of it, Dick Pettit is around here sometimes. He's the one that did the write up for RCReport. Maybe he could share some insights?

Very nice Ultimate!
Sounds like they have built this one right. It doesn't seem to be just another ARF.
Check these specs.
Double beveled elevator
Jig-built for accuracy
Individually hand built
Covered in Ultracote
Heavy duty engine mount
Complete hardware kit
Pull-Pull linkages for all tail surfaces
Fully illustrated instruction manual
Bonus set-up and flying tips
I want one. I wonder if there is a backorder list?

By the time they are out and actually available you could have already built several and flown them.

I had quite a conversation about them with Dave at the Chicago RCHTA show this year. The most obvious and impressive thing was how extremely light they are. The other notable thing was the very "correct" size flying surfaces and moments. My personal opinion is that "lightness" of the aircraft is one of Dave's main goals. This bipe should outclass all others in it's size when it comes to performance. If you are into more than just cruising around and like to wring em' out, this should be a hoot!

His Extra was supposed to be around 10 Lbs and I havnt heard of a single one that has come out less than 14 Lbs.
They do fly well at 14 but they were advertised to be so light. Not the case in the end.

I saw the first prototype and held it in my hands. It's very light, and looks like the original Ultimate that was made smaller (Honey, I shrunk the Ultimate...)
No word on availability yet, but maybe by March or April, they'll be here.
Who wants to take a wager that there's gonna be some clown out there that will want to know how to stuff a ZDZ-80 on the firewall of this one.
Personally, one of the YS 53 four cycles will be just fine

Not a ZDZ 80. Just a BME 44.

Great..... I have the Goldberg Ultimate ARF and Sig's profile Ultimate, how do I convince the wife I need the DP? If it was a bit larger or could be had for closer to $200 I would be in line also. Here is the link for the plane http://www.davepatrickmodels.com/frame.htm

Just saw the new ad for this in Model Aviation...very cool...can't wait to see it tomorrow at the WRAM show...
Just the right size for an OS 70FS...
Anybody flown this yet or have one? I think it was supposed to be available around now.

I have tried to deal with Dave patrick many times. Only when they realize you are getting frustrated with them do they seem to pay attention. I will not go into great detail, but suffice it to say I will NEVER deal with them again!

Jeff,
You may not want to deal with Dave Patrick again and this may be right for you. He is not the best businessman. He is a nice, very knowledgeable; guy that designs and supplies really terrific planes. He will personally spend a lot of time working though any problems you might encounter with his products (if you can reach him). Many people would rather deal with larger companies which can better meet schedules and give pretty good support. As for me, give me DP's product and support. He’s the pro.

The only thing they have on hand to sell are the arc extras.everything else you can order and get a free instrument panel and shipping, but dont ask me when to expect to see one.I agree they have a terrific product that has some real sales potential, but they are killing themselves by staying so small. At least hire someone else to answer phones and emails.

Phil,
Love the cap...put that OS 70FS in it and it's straight up out of site! One of my favorites...still getting comfy with it so haven't pushed the envelope super far yet...motor is just broken in so next warm days I'll have it out. Working on those ultimate pics now...

They look pretty good. I will be up there tomorrow bright and early. I am glad you are enjoying that CAP. I told ya the OS 70 was perfect for it. I just ordered the new Kyosho Pitts but I wont get it for about 2 months. I am flying one of those Aeroworks Edge 90 ARF's now along with a Morris Top Cap, and a couple others in the works. Didnt you buy my Extra also? Have you flown that one? Phil

I saw the prototype at the Pasadena show this year in Jan...and last year in Jan....I wonder if I will see the prototype next year there too!!
